2016 BMW M4 GTS Testing on the Nurburgring – Video and Spy Shots
Kuala Lumpur: Less than a week after it was previewed in concept form in Monterey, BMW M4 GTS has been spotted testing at Nurburgring. We have luckily received a big batch of images and a video for the same.
The standard M4 only went on sale last year and now this hardcore version is expected to make an official appearance soon. The prototype appears to be virtually same with the M4 safety car used recently in MotoGP. Although, you will notice the car wearing a number of fresh elements including the rear tail lights which have the trademark swirls on them. The update leads to speculation about possible OLED integration in this new car version. For rest of the car and similarities, the body has remained perpetual including the extended lip spoiler and light alloy wheels dressed with bright orange accents. The final version of the car should feature bespoke 19-inch front and 20-inch rear lightweight forged alloy wheels. Also, to lessen the weight of the car, the hood is made from carbon fibre reinforced plastic material. It also appears the car has a more aggressive suspension tune than the standard M4.
There will also be some major tweaks for the six-cylinder M4’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter engine as it is set to adopt a new water-injection system that should not only boost output but also improve efficiency. Expect a 10 percent bump in power over the standard M4, it will increase power output from the current 431 PS to as much as 500 PS. The standard motor’s 406 pound-feet of torque should also be increased.
BMW will likely unveil the M4 GTS in production guise before the end of this year and it will obviously be a lot more expensive than the standard M4.
