1965 Maserati Mistral Spider named the ‘Best in Show’ at the Concorso Italiano 2021
KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, you read it right, it seems like the name of winds are proving from Maserati, as George and Bobbie Andreini’s 1965 Mistral Spider has won the ‘Best in Show’ class at California held Concorso Italiano 2021.
The automaker starred at the 36th edition of the said event for enthusiasts and connoisseurs. With the location being equally stunning - the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Course, Seaside, California. It is to be noted that this international event is globally known and is dedicated to the Italian-built cars during Monterey Car Week.
At the 2021 Concorso Italiano, the Maserati convertible was a big draw. And it was only with Mistral, in 1963, that Maserati started the tradition of naming its cars after famous winds. Included in the list is - Bora, Khamsin, Ghibli, and Merak. As for the Maserati Levante, it was the first SUV in the automaker’s history.
Now continuing the trend is the upcoming model, the Grecale that is scheduled to arrive in November.
Coming back to Maserati at the Concorso Italiano 2021, the event also celebrated the 50th birthday of the Bora, another iconic model. It was the first road car with a mid-mounted rear power plant in the automaker over a century of history.
