11-Seater Kia Carnival CKD goes on sale in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The sole distributor of the Kia cars in Malaysia, Dinamikjaya Motors, has launched the locally-assembled version of the 11-seater Carnival. Just like the 7 and 8-seater versions, the 11-seater trim is also built at the Inokon Assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah.

The CKD version is originally priced at RM 215,229 (on the road, without insurance). However, until December 31, 2023, the MPV is offered at a special introductory price of RM 198,500. Included in the price is a five-year, 100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and a five-year, 100,000 km free maintenance package.

The new 11-seater Kia Carnival CKD benefits from the new dual-tone black and grey leatherette upholstery and anti-pinch functionality is absent for the powered sliding doors. Rest everything remains the same as the CBU model.

Standard equipment includes automatic LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, Smart Power Liftgate, LED front fog lamps, 18-inch wheels (with 235/60R18 tyres), Smart Power Sliding doors, 12.3-inch infotainment unit, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless smartphone charging pad, tilt and telescopic-adjustable leather multifunction steering wheel, 7 USB ports, a six-speaker audio system, seven airbags, blind-spot collision warning, and rear cross-traffic avoidance assist.

The 11-seater Kia Carnival CKD colour palette comprises a total of four striking options - Astra Blue, Meteor Grey, Snow White Pearl, and Jet Black.

Under the bonnet of the locally-assembled Carnival lies the same 2.2-litre Smartstream turbo diesel inline-four-cylinder engine as the CBU iteration, which is capable of generating a maximum power of 202 PS and a peak torque of 440 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The locally-assembled Kia Carnival is on display at the Bermaz Auto Showcase event from Nov 1 to 5, 2023 at Centre Court, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur from 10 am to 10 pm.
