Perodua Bezza - Top 3 competitors
The Perodua Bezza, which was officially launched in the year 2016, is the first ever Energy Efficient Vehicle produced by a homegrown automaker in Malaysia. Bezza has proven to be a great success story for Perodua and has been one of the highest selling A-segment compact sedans. Based on the popular hatchback Axia, this sedan has been built with more than 95% local raw materials. The Perodua Bezza is available with two engine options and five different variants.
About Perodua Bezza
A lot of emphasis during the production of Bezza was given on its fuel efficiency. With a number of technologically advanced features, the sedan manages to deliver a maximum mileage of 22.8 kmpl. It has also got a 5-star rating from ASEAN NCAP making it amongst the safest vehicles in the country.
Talking about its two engines, the 1.0-litre VVT-i engine generates a maximum power of up to 67 hp at 6,000 rpm and the peak torque of 91 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The bigger engine of the sedan, the 1.3-litre dual VVT-i engine is capable of delivering a maximum power of 90 hp and a peak torque of 117-newton metre. The Perodua Bezza comes with either a four-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission system, however, the top variant 1.3 Advance, is available only with the automatic transmission option.
Perodua Bezza: Top competitors
The Bezza is slightly underpowered and might not be as attractive to the speed lovers. There is not much to complain about the sedan, however, the Malaysian market does offer you some other alternatives to the Perodua Bezza. Here is a list of the top 3 competitors to the Perodua Bezza:
1) Proton Saga
The Proton Saga has been one of the main competitors of the Bezza in the Malaysian market. The Saga is comparatively cheaper than the Bezza, although not by much. It comes with a more powerful engine and is more impressive when it comes to acceleration and speed, however, it delivers a low mileage of 17.54 kmpl when compared to the Perodua Bezza. Its 1.4-litre quad-cylinder engine delivers a maximum power of 97 PS at 5,750 rpm and a peak torque of 120 Nm at 4,000 rpm, which is significantly higher than the Bezza.
2) Proton Persona
A hatchback from Proton, which comes at a slightly higher cost, makes it way into this list mainly because of its 1.6-litre engine. The car is available in four different variants and comes with an option of the manual or automatic transmission system. Its 1.6-litre power plant cranks up an impressive power of 112 PS at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 148 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The mileage offered by the Proton Persona is around 16 kmpl but it pips the Proton Bezza when it comes to power.
3) Perodua Axia
A sibling rivalry is always fun, isn’t it? The Bezza was built based on Perodua Axia only but that doesn’t mean that Bezza has outsmarted the Axia completely. Both the Axia and Bezza are almost the same when it comes to engine performance and fuel efficiency. Moreover, the base variant of the Perodua Axia comes at a price which is around RM10,000 lower than the base variant of the Bezza.
One of the main reasons that the Perodua Bezza has been this successful is its impressive fuel efficiency. Neither Saga nor Persona could meet the fuel efficiency standard of the Bezza. Those who prioritize mileage would always go for Bezza or even Axia, but the real challenge for Perodua would be to attract the customers who seek a more powerful engine.
