Perodua Bezza - Buy or skip?

Perodua, one of the largest car manufacturers in Malaysia, has been in business for over two decades now. But it was not until 2016 when Perodua came forward with its Bezza. With a solid experience in making cars, Perodua gave everything it had to make its first sedan a revolutionary one. In the Malaysian market, this car goes against Proton Saga. So, should you buy the Bezza or skip it? Read on to find out.

Perodua Bezza engine

Let’s start with the engine. The Bezza is available in Malaysia in 5 trims and 2 engine options that fall into the price bracket of RM 33,503 and RM 46,408. The smaller 1.0-litre engine produces a decent 67 hp at 6,000 revs and generates 91 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 revs. The more powerful 1.3-litre engine churns out 90 hp and 117 Nm. Both the engine are available in either 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic. The performance of both of them is quite good as long as you’re not driving enthusiastically. The Bezza isn’t meant to be driven like that.

Perodua Bezza exterior

Perodua has done a good job to make the Bezza look like a modern-day car. Features like chrome front grille, boot lid garnish, shark fin antenna, LED tail lights, side skirts, etc. help the Bezza stand out from the usual. The side view of the car does look a bit out of proportion, mostly because of the small wheel size, but this shouldn’t be the deal breaker. Overall, the Bezza is a handsome-looking car.

Perodua Bezza cabin space

The Bezza offers a spacious interior considering the fact that it is an A-segment sedan. The front occupants have got a good amount of space to move around, as for the rear it is also not too bad. The seats are quite comfortable and provide good lumbar support. The dashboard here is mostly made of plastic, but it doesn’t feel that cheap. Its flat layout gives a good view ahead. And the fit and finish are quite good, too.

Perodua Bezza fearutes

Perodua has provided the Bezza with a few clever features that you wouldn't expect in an A-segment sedan. The Bezza’s smart key is an example. If you press the unlock button on this key just once, only the driver’s door will be unlocked. In order to unlock the remaining doors, you need to press the unlock button again.Perodua Bezza safety

The top-end model of the Bezza boasts off its 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. It comes with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), Hill-start Assist (HSA), and ABS.

The Perodua Bezza isn’t a perfect car. There are many aspects where there’s room for improvement. But the fact that this is Perodua’s first attempt at making an A-segment sedan, the Bezza doesn’t fail to impress. It offers a fuel-efficient engine, spacious interior, modern looks, good safety gears, and other practical features that make it a desirable vehicle at its price point.

So, if you’re looking for a compact A-segment sedan, then you should definitely check out the Bezza, and you might end up buying one.
