Lexus RX: 5 Things You Must Know
Kuala Lumpur: Lexus RX is a luxury crossover being sold since 1998 by Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota. This car is mainly available as RX200t, RX350 petrol version and RX450h hybrid in Luxury, F-Sport and Sports Luxury grades. Currently, this car is running in its third generation while the one with hybrid powertrain is running in the second one. After so many years, Lexus have managed to become a master of luxury crossovers and has set a benchmark for many other automakers. Lexus RX also created a lot of buzz at the recent Thailand Motor Expo 2015, so we at Carbay decided to brief you up about this car which is creating much hype.
1.Elegant exteriors
This car has been designed aerodynamically along with perfect dimensions. Towards the front fascia, its grille gets Lexus's L-Finesse design language which is more recognizable than previous RS. The elongated swept-back headlights easily merge into its curvaceous body. Further, this car also features a deeper and more vertical front bumper than its predecessors.
2. Spacious interior
As soon as you glide into the car, you will notice high-quality materials all around the dashboard. Apart from the wood finish, an analogue clock is also provided. It's soft and flat-cushioned chairs provide a wide range of adjustability. Further, comfort is provided by its roomy and airy cabin which is a result of increased wheelbase and huge legroom. Moreover, it also carries a huge boot space of 496 litres.
3. Powerful engine
The entry level Lexus RX200t is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with VVT-i technology. Further, an option of three driving modes is also provided namely Normal, Eco and Sport. Moving over, the more powerful RX350 is integrated with a robust 3.5-litre V6 engine. Lastly, the RX450h hybrid is powered by a 4.5-litre V8 petrol engine along with an electric motor. This variant is most expensive to buy but also offers an impressive fuel economy.
4. Latest technology
This car is loaded with a number of class-leading technologies. While the lower spec models get an 8-inch display screen, the range-topping models are integrated with 12.3-inch screen which is further accentuated by infotainment system and navigation. Moreover, the infotainment system can be connected through USB and aux ports along with Bluetooth. Further, a large head-up display is also provided for the driver, which Lexus claims to be the world's largest. This cluster displays speed, cruise control status, directions, speed limits and safety warnings. An option of three sound system is also provided which includes two Pioneer systems with 9 speakers or 12 speakers and a Mark Levinson 15-speaker system.
5. Reliable safety features
The automaker has integrated this car with an array of safety features. It is blessed with a ten airbag mechanism, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Tire Pressure Alert and Parking Assist Monitor as well. Its braking mechanism is further assisted by anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD). Additional safety features include a pre-crash safety system which uses a front-mounted camera to detect pedestrians and other vehicles before a collision.
