So, without any further delay, let’s begin.
New Petrol-powered RS trim
The 2024 Honda City Hatchback is offered in five variants, four of which are powered by a petrol engine, and the fifth is equipped with a hybrid powertrain. The petrol variants start with the 1.5L S, followed by the 1.5L E, 1.5L V, and the RS. The latter replaces the 1.5L V-Sensing trim available earlier. At the top of the lineup lies the same e:HEV RS hybrid as before.
The ICE mill comprises the same 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC petrol mill delivering the power output of 121 PS and a peak torque of 145 Nm. All petrol variants are now mated to the Paddle Shift and a CVT gearbox, offering a fun and engaging drive.
The e:HEV RS trim, on the other hand, combines a 1.5-litre Sports intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) and an electric motor producing 109 PS and 253 Nm of torque. It is paired with a single-speed E-CVT and a Deceleration Selector Paddle that enables the driver to engage the paddles for power regeneration and to decelerate the vehicle.
New aesthetic appeal inside-out
The upgraded hatchback looks more energetic, bold and sporty with significant design enhancements. Key changes include a newly designed honeycomb front grille, front lower grille, LED front fog lights garnish and rear bumper lower garnish. The new Berlina Black 16‑inch alloy wheels, a new side sill garnish and a sportier-looking diffuser further add to the dynamic appearance of the V and RS trims.
The interior of the RS trims also has received a stylish upgrade in the form of a striking red‑painted dashboard panel with sporty Combi leather seats featuring eye‑catching red stitching.
Minor dimension tweaks
The dimensions of the Honda City Hatchback remain largely unchanged with the pre-facelift model. It now measures 4,350 mm (+1 mm) in length, 1,748 mm in width, and 1,488 mm (18 mm) in height. The increase in height is expected to offer a slightly higher driving position, potentially improving driver visibility and comfort. Notably, the RS variants of the hatchback are longer than the non-RS trims with a total length of 4,369 mm.
Enhanced connectivity options
Honda has also enhanced the connectivity options to significantly improve the functionality and convenience for occupants. The hatchback now features USB-C ports at the rear and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity with the upgraded 8-inch infotainment screen. It allows drivers and passengers to seamlessly connect their smartphones to the vehicle’s infotainment system without the need for physical cables, enhancing the overall user experience by providing easy access to navigation, music, and other apps.
New ADAS features - LCDN and LSF
The new City Hatchback also gains new safety features along with the inclusion of the Honda SENSING suite as a standard fitment across all variants. This comprehensive pack of advanced driver-assistance systems now incorporates the Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN) system as standard. It alerts drivers when the lead car ahead begins moving after being stationary.
Furthermore, the top-spec e:HEV RS variant exclusively comes with the Low Speed Follow (LSF) feature, which enables the vehicle to maintain a safe following distance at low speeds, providing added reassurance during congested traffic situations.
