The D-segment five-passenger sports utility vehicle (SUV) from Ling Pao, as the brand is known in China, is already open for booking. The price of the 2024 Leapmotor C10 starts at RM 149,000.

The 2024 Leapmotor C10 looks rather plain and simple. There’s nothing hugely different from other Chinese SUVs. Chinese carmakers usually borrow designs from established American and Japanese cars, instead of having a complete in-house design team. The SUV doesn’t have much of a road presence, unlike its rivals. That’s possible because of the frumpy-looking front-end with a ‘dumbbell-shaped’ light bar. The grille is totally absent like many other EVs because the 2024 Leapmotor C10 doesn’t have a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE). The headlights look sleek. The car gets all-around LED lighting.

The tall profile shows off the 2024 Leapmotor C10’s low ground clearance. The car runs on 20-inch alloy wheels. The door handles and recessed, a feature spotted in many EVs these days. The rear end is rather plain with another light bar running across the entire width. But there’s little in terms of distinctive design details. 

The 2024 Leapmotor C10 has a well-appointed interior that echoes the minimalist approach spotted on the exterior. There are plenty of premium soft-touch suede-like materials inside the cabin. Leapmotor calls it Oeko-Tex Standard 100 ‘silicone leather’ seat upholstery that’s liquid resistant and ‘baby-friendly’. There are two colour schemes to choose from. The dashboard is dominated by a huge 14.6-inch Tesla-type touchscreen infotainment system. It’s connected to a 12-speaker audio system. There’s a separate 10.25-inch driver’s information display unit. There’s almost a total absence of physical buttons. Everything is controlled via the touchscreen, except the overhead switch for panoramic sunroof, window operators, and the steering wheel scroll system. The cabin quality of the 2024 Leapmotor C10’s interior is commendable. There are no cheap plastics or noticeable panel gaps on the display unit. Other cabin amenities include four cup holders, ambient lighting, and a 15W wireless charger.

The 10.25-inch driver’s screen is configurable. But it gets only three small readouts on one side. The screen itself is bright and the icons are large to navigate. However, some of the more important functions are hidden under several sub-menus and will require time to be used. Leapmotor is offering connected services to an app store that allows the Mercedes Vivaldi browser to be downloaded.

2024 Leapmotor C10 gets 435 litres of boot space that’s more or less average in its segment.

With 4,729 mm length, 1,900 mm width, and 1,680 mm height, the 2024 Leapmotor C10 is a spacious D-segment SUV, larger than most of its rivals. The car gets impressive cabin space. All seats are padded and come with lumbar support. The rear-row is spacious and taller passengers won’t have to readjust their seating position on long trips. The rear seat offers reclining function. The big panoramic sunroof and the low window line allow plenty of light to enter the cabin. Folding down the rear seat increases the boot capacity to 1,410 litres. 

The dual-zone automatic climate control cools the cabin in minutes. It also gets an inbuilt PM2.5 filtration system to purify the cabin air.

The 2024 Leapmotor C10 is equipped with a rear-wheel-drive single-motor that produces 218PS/320Nm. The motor is powered by a 69.9 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery. The steering wheel is superlight and the 2024 Leapmotor C10 is more of a suburban family mover. The suspension does feel a bit hard at times. Larger bumps draw a stiff reaction. But the ride quality never feels uncomfortable. The suspension also helps the car to retain stability while sharp cornering, by minimising body roll for most parts. Being an EV, the 2024 Leapmotor C10 emits no engine noise. But road noise from a coarse surface does enter the cabin.
