Abhishek Katariya says
Scomadi might not be as popular a name as the Japanese in the scooter industry of Malaysia. However, this British company is known for making neo-retro Lambretta SV style scooters which are altered to make them preferable with modern mechanical underpinnings. The Scomadi TL125 is being offered in Malaysia in just one variant, which is available in the colour options of Oxford Blue, Old English White and Stratos Silver.

Scomadi TL125 Design
The Scomadi TL125 has got the power to reiterate the charm and aura of Lambretta SV scooters from yesteryears, as its design is completely inspired by the same. The retro appeal in the look of the Scomadi TL125 makes it appear very special and truly distinctive from the crowd of other modern and sportier-looking scooters in the 150-160cc category.
The Scomadi TL125 has a simple and very familiar design when viewed head-on. There is a rectangular halogen headlamp mounted on the handlebar cowl, which has a boxy design for itself. The design of the front apron has an essence of nostalgia attached to it, with a long and vertical nose-type panel with a curved split apron on either side. The nose running in the middle ends with a faux air vent surrounded by a chrome finish. The long front fender attached to the bottom of the apron has a good mix of curved and tapered designs.
The Scomadi TL125 looks very familiar from the side as well. The compact floorboard has a curved tunnel running in the middle of it, though either part of the floorboard offers enough room for even taller riders. The large and curved bulges on the sides of the Scomadi TL125 taper towards the rear, which make the scooter look wide from the side. The rear lower ends of the side bulges come with rectangular clear lens turn indicators mounted on them.
The Scomadi TL125 gets a long single-piece seat, which sits at the top of the curved body of the scooter. This seat tapers upwards from the rear, which gives the scooter a unique touch. At the back of the scooter, there is a tilted tubular luggage rack finished in chrome, which is mounted on the body of the scooter just above the tail lamp assembly. The compact tail lamp sitting on the tapering down tail section gets a modern LED insert.
The Scomadi TL125 comes with a very modern-looking compact instrument console, which appeals much with its all-digital layout. The unit reads out vehicle speed, engine rpm, trip meters, odometer and fuel level.
TL125 Ride & Handling
Based on a space-frame tubular chassis with steel/ABS bodywork, the Scomadi TL125 is equipped with a double hydraulic preload adjustable shock absorber with coil spring and anti-dive linkage system at the front and a coil spring hydraulic shock absorber with four levels of adjustable preload at the back. The Scomadi TL125 gets 220mm disc at both front and rear for stopping power. It rides on a meatier set of tyres, with 110/70-12 tyre at the front and 120/70-12 tyre at the rear.
Scomadi TL125 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Scomadi TL125 gets a peppy four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 124.6cc engine, which produces a maximum power output of 9.5 PS and a peak torque output of 9.7 Nm. While the figures look pretty decent for a regular 125cc scooter, we would have loved to see more performance on tap so that it could have matched the performance and zing of the original Lambretta, and not just its visual appeal. Nevertheless, the engine feels peppy enough and has decent refinement levels too.
TL125 Braking & Safety
The Scomadi TL125 gets only a combined braking system (CBS) in the name of safety. While it is pretty okay for a budget scooter, we would have loved to see a few more safety features onboard.
Scomadi TL125 Verdict
The Scomadi TL125 impresses much with its charming and old-school appeal in its design, which reminds of all the nostalgia with which Lambretta SV scooters are associated. Bring in the decent mechanicals and an easy-to-handle nature, the Scomadi TL125 feels practical in the real world too.
