Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Review 2024

Ducati is certainly one of the best brands for two-wheelers, expected to deliver outstanding power consistently. The sheer fusion of rustic and nostalgic designs with advanced tech the automobile industry has witnessed makes it stand out in the competition. Luckily for bike lovers in Malaysia, Ducati Scrambler brings one of its best creations so far — the Desert Sled.

It is designed to cruise along off-beat and less-trodden paths to stand upright against the test of time and durability. Although its price is a bit high, the overall performance deliverability, fuel consumption, and aerodynamic design make the Desert Sled a power to witness.

Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Design

With the livery sporting a sparkling blue base and white and red highlights, the Desert Sled manifests a nostalgic tribute to the Enduro bikes hailing from the 80s. The classic matte black frame and gold-colored rims also make the off-road character more prominent. One look at its slender design, which is made to provide an exquisite riding experience.

To make it more robust, the bike has a high front mudguard to keep the chassis safe from any surface condition. The extended rear fender is positioned optimally to protect the tires from rain and snow. Furthermore, the two-wheeler's headlight has a glass lens for brighter illumination and DRL.

The Desert Sled features a dedicated seat at 860 mm height to offer riders maximum comfort while cruising along bumpy roads. On top of everything, the patented Ducati multimedia system adds flair or tech advancement, especially since it features a fuel indicator and selective gear control.

Scrambler Desert Sled Ride & Handling

The entire bike features a steel Trellis frame to bear weight yet resist any chassis damage. Its front suspension is 46 mm, USD fork type, which resembles the regular telescopic fork used in most common models. But the only difference here is that the fork is attached in the upside-down or inverted position.

It provides more power and comfort and reduces the sprung force and bounciness. Conversely, the rear end is equipped with Kayaba rear shock absorber and a double-sided aluminum swingarm. This further reduces the discomfort while traveling on off-beat roads having undulating or uneven surfaces.

Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Engine & Fuel Consumption

Regarding Desert Sled's performance, the bike exudes raw power once it hits the road. It is equipped with an L-Twin, Desmodromic distribution, air-cooled engine featuring two valves in each cylinder. Since the engine has a displacement capacity of 803cc, the bike can fly on the road like a bird. It has a power delivery limit of 719 hp at 8250 rpm per minute and torque delivery of 67 Nm at 5750 rpm.

These numbers indicate the powerful performance of the Desert Sled that will always coax the riders to hit the roads occasionally. Since it features an electronic fuel injection system with a 50 mm throttle, starting the engine won't take long compared to regular injection models. The bike has a stainless steel muffler in the exhaust system with aluminum tailpipes to maintain heat dissipation at optimal levels.

On top of everything, it has a 6-speed manual gear with a hydraulic wet multiplate clutch type. This makes maneuvering the bike super easy.

Scrambler Desert Sled Braking & Safety

Both the front and rear ends are equipped with disc brakes. But the front disc has 4 pistons while the rear one has a single piston to offer maximum control to the rider over the bike. Due to disc brakes, one can immediately halt the bike's movement without worrying about moving any further, causing an accident, or colliding with something hard while cruising along a heavy-traffic city road or the off-beat mountain road.

The ABS locking system that ensures it won't move when not operated makes the bike more secure. This two-wheeler also features side reflectors to allow riders to drive in low-light or dark conditions safely without compromising their security.

Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Verdict

Known for its slender, aerodynamic design, the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled is a true powerhouse. It features a retro design, accentuating the famous logo and golden rims. Although the model is designed to move smoothly on off-beat roads, riders can take it for short journeys along city highways. Its advanced engine is well-built to offer excellent fuel economy and a cleaner exhaust, making it a reliable two-wheeler in Malaysia.
