CMC SK200 Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The CMC SK200 is an entry-level motorcycle in the lineup of CMC motorcycles in Malaysia and happens to be one of the most affordable motorcycles too. However, the CMC SK200 is a premium performance-oriented commuter, which has an edge over similarly-priced 125-150cc bikes with a bigger engine under its skin. The CMC SK200 is available in Malaysia in a single variant, which can be had in one of the two colour options on offer – White Red and White Blue.

CMC SK200 Design
For its category, the CMC SK200 has a pleasant design, which looks modern and eye-catching for a commuter motorcycle. The vibrant graphics and sharply designed body panels do make it look stylish, something which is usually not seen much in an entry-level 125cc-150cc motorcycle priced similarly to it.
The CMC SK200 welcomes you with its compact front fascia, which comprises a nicely styled bikini fairing and an edgy looking halogen headlamp integrated within it. This fairing has a two-part design – while the upper part is finished in a contrast blue or red colour theme and acts as a visor, the lower part is finished in white and serves as surrounding cowls for the headlamp. This whole headlamp unit is flanked by clear lens LED turn indicators.
The CMC SK200 has a touch of style and sharpness in its side profile, which is evident by the way its fuel tank and side body panels have been designed. While the fuel tank looks slim and goes well with the athletic stance of the CMC SK200, it gets vertically flowing and edgy tank extension panels. The black-themed engine of the CMC SK200 gets a large and pointy looking engine cowl, something which is usually not seen on an entry-level 150-200cc motorcycle. The Y-shaped side body panels, long black-themed exhaust pipe with satin chrome tip and black-coloured multi-spoke alloy wheels add to the sporty design of the CMC SK200.
With a split seat arrangement, the CMC SK200 gets a compact tail section, which ends up with split pillion grab rails and a small LED tail lamp nestled at the back of the tail section. There is a large rear fender attached to the lower part of the tail section, on which the LED clear lens turn indicators are mounted.
The CMC SK200 comes equipped with a part-digital instrument console, the housing of which has a simple analogue speedometer and a small LCD panel that reads out fuel gauge, odometer, gear indicator, trip meters and clock. The switchgear and rest of the body panels look decent but could have exuded a higher quality level.
SK200 Ride & Handling
Sitting on a simple tubular frame, the CMC SK200 is armed with a conventional suspension setup of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable mono-shock at the back. The suspension has been tuned to make it suitable for low-speed rides, with decent tuning set for a comfortable low-speed ride. The low kerb weight of the motorcycle makes it further easier to ride. The front 100/80 R17 and rear130/70 R17 tyres of the CMC SK200 make it one of the most affordable motorcycles to come with radial tyres as standard. The bike is armed with a premium braking combination of disc brakes at both ends.
CMC SK200 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the CMC SK200 is a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 196.4cc engine, which happens to be the large engine among all the motorcycles existing at this price point. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and churns out a maximum power output of 14 bhp and a peak torque output of 13 Nm. While these numbers might feel low for a 200cc engine, the CMC SK200 has a decent power-to-weight ratio thanks to its low kerb weight of 128 kg.
SK200 Braking & Safety
The CMC SK200 is positioned as an economic commuter, and as a part of a cost-saving measure, the motorcycle skips on several safety features. It gets disc brakes at both ends as a part of the standard package.
CMC SK200 Verdict
The CMC SK200 appears as a compelling package in the premium commuter segment, as its sharp styling and bigger 200cc engine give it an upper hand over other similarly-priced 150cc commuters. However, the motorcycle can have better fit and finish and equipment levels.
