CMC Italjet 125

Going by its name, the CMC Italjet 125 has an Italian flair in its design, which makes it look sporty and attention-grabbing. For its size, the CMC Italjet 125 has a good tall and sharp looking stance, which gives it a youthful appeal all around.

At the front, the CMC Italjet 125 has an eye-catching design, with its nicely curved front apron ending with a dual-LED headlamp on its lower edges. These headlamps get a small air vent in the middle and two additional air vents just below them. The upper middle part of the front apron is finished in a theme of gloss black, which adds to the appeal of the scooter at the front. The handlebar cowl too looks quite sharp with a triangular gloss black panel in the middle of it.

The side profile of the CMC Italjet 125 looks sporty for its size and segment. The scooter has large side panels extending from the sides of the front apron, which come integrated with small and trapezoidal LED turn indicators on its frontal edges. The inner edges of these side panels come with small air vents to add to the sporty appeal of the scooter. The CMC Italjet 125 comes with a split floorboard design, with the sides having ample amount of space to place your feet.

The side panels of the CMC Italjet 125 below the large and accommodating stepped seat look small, but they do go well with the overall appeal of a sharp-looking scooter. Towards the rear, the scooter comes with split pillion grab rails and split LED tail lamps, which further enhance its sportiness. However, the cylindrical exhaust pipe, which comes with a decent looking chrome shield over it, looks cheap and out of place for a nice-looking scooter like the CMC Italjet 125.

The CMC Italjet 125 features a wide and asymmetrical looking instrument console, which has an analogue speedometer and an offset LCD panel, the latter of which reads out the fuel gauge, odometer and trip meter. There is an array of other warning lights placed just below the LCD panel. While the design of the scooter looks appealing from a distance, a closer inspection reveals that the fit and finish levels are not up to the mark.

For a scooter, the CMC Italjet 125 comes armed with a nice suspension setup of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a hydraulic mono-shock at the rear. The scooter feels agile and quick, thus matching its sporty flavour. With a premium 120/60-13 tyre at the front and a 130/60-13 tyre at the rear, the CMC Italjet 125 feels even more sure-footed. Even the braking setup of 205mm petal disc at the front and a 190mm petal disc at the rear feel promising and deliver brilliantly.

The CMC Italjet 125 is powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 125cc engine, which pumps out a maximum power output of 9 PS and a peak torque output of 8.6 Nm. Mated to a conventional V-belt CVT gearbox, the engine feels smooth and refined at lower RPMs. It's only during higher speeds when the scooter starts sounding unrefined.

The CMC Italjet 125 might not be heavily equipped in terms of safety, but it gets decent essentials in the form of daytime running LEDs, a lockable ignition keyhole and a large under-seat storage compartment that is capable of holding a full-face helmet.

The CMC Italjet 125 is high on visual appeal and its mechanical specification do match its sporty intentions. However, we would have loved to see more power and refinement from its engine, which will surely increase its desirability and image as a proper entry-level sports scooter.
