BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
Based on the S 100o RR, the new BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M is a limited-edition, high-performance litre-class supersport motorcycle with the benchmark of attention-to-detailing and exclusivity to have ever been offered in a BMW Motorrad fully-faired motorcycle. The new BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M retains the visual and mechanical package of the S 1000 RR but celebrates the 50th anniversary of the M division from BMW with its distinctive colour scheme and a few other add-ons.

BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M Design
The BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M is based on the S 1000 RR, and apart from a few exclusive add-ons, both motorcycles are the same in their appearance. The M 1000 RR 50 Years M distinguishes itself from the standard S 1000 RR with its unique lime green paint scheme with BMW M badges on the fuel tank, seats, side body panels and instrument console.
The front fairing of the BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M accommodates the twin LED projectors for its headlamp setup, separated from each other by a long vertical Y-shaped panel which flows upwards to the adjustable and transparent windscreen at the top. Staying true to its commitment to offering unparalleled sporty riding experience, the new BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M is offered with carbon fibre winglets.
However, the winglets are not the only carbon fibre elements offered in the new BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M, as the motorcycle comes with a host of such panels. The M 1000 RR 50 Years M has a carbon fibre finish for the front fender, pinions, chain guard, fuel tank trims and Akrapovic exhaust tip. The BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M also retains its muscular fuel tank, a tail section with split seats and a body-coloured cover for the pillion seat, an exposed trellis frame on the sides and copper-themed engine casing from the standard M 1000 RR.
The sharp-looking tail section of the BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M comes with the same rear fender with dual-functioning LED turn indicators, that also serve as LED tail lamps, as the S 1000 RR. This ultra-premium supersport motorcycle from BMW Motorrad is also offered with top-class features like a 5-inch TFT instrument console with BMW M-specific display modes, heated grips and cruise control. This motorcycle also comes with the M Competition package as standard, which includes M brake and clutch levers, M rider footrests, M brake lever guard, M engine protectors, anodised rear wheel swing-arm, M endurance chain and M GPS lap trigger activation code. For an expensive motorcycle of its price, the quality as well as fit and finish levels in the BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M are top-notch.
M 1000 RR 50 Years M Ride & Handling
The BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M also shared the entire chassis and its sub-ordinates with the regular BMW M 1000 RR. Based on a trellis frame shared with the S 1000 RR, the BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M is equipped with a suspension combination of 45mm upside-down telescopic forks at the front and an aluminium swing-arm with mono-shock at the rear, with both fully adjustable. Riding on track-oriented 120/70 ZR17 front and 200/55 ZR17 rear tyres that are wrapped over 17-inch M Carbon wheels, the BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M is not meant to be used for daily urban riding, but only for occasional track outings. The braking duties of this expensive motorcycle are taken care of by twin 320mm discs at the front and a single 220mm disc at the rear.
BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the new BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M is the same four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline-four, 999cc engine as the standard S 1000 RR. However, for the BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M, the engine has been tuned for a more responsive throttle and tweaked performance numbers, which now stand at 212 bhp of maximum power and 113 Nm of maximum torque. This track-oriented supersport motorcycle has a top speed of 306 kmph, making it the fastest motorcycle BMW has ever produced.
M 1000 RR 50 Years M Braking & Safety
The comprehensive safety net offered in the new BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M includes BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, seven pro riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, Race Pro 1-3), pit lane limiter, dynamic traction control, launch control, slide control, wheelie control, shift assistant pro, dynamic brake control and automatic hill start support pro.
BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M Verdict
The super-expensive price point, exclusive materials used and track-oriented mechanical setup ensure that the BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M is not for everyone, but only for the selected few who can value the immaculate attention-to-detailing and fine expertise in engineering that goes behind this limited-run supersport motorcycle.
