Introduction:

The German Automaker Volkswagen with all its exclusive innovations and a versatile range of automobile products has succeeded in achieving a respectable stand in the International automobile industry. Adding to its versatility, the German giant launched a new range known as the Comfort Coupe in the year 2008, which was christened as Volkswagen CC. Volkswagen CC was introduced in Malaysia in the year 2012 to target a particular segment of buyers who crave the comfort and luxury of a sedan along with the sportiness of a coupe.

Engine, mileage, variants:

Volkswagen CC runs on a TSI 1.8L 160PS turbocharged direct injection, 4-cylinder petrol engine, which gives a maximum power output of 160PS between 5000 to 6200 rpm and a maximum torque of 250Nm between 1500 to 4200rpm. The efficient engine is mated to a 7-speed direct shift gearbox DSG to gift you with a top speed of 223kmph. The fuel consumed by the engine per 100km varies from 9.6litres to 5.6litres for urban and extra-urban conditions respectively, adding up to a combined mileage of 7.2 l/100km which is quite decent. The coupe comes in two exclusive variants – Volkswagen CC and Volkswagen CC sport. Despite being a big sedan the powerful TSI engine can pull the car to reach speeds of 100 km/hr from a halt in well under 8.5 seconds.

Exterior:

This 4-door comfort coupe comes with an elegant and streamlined exterior body design which does look appealing. The coupe's awe-inspiring exterior design is further accentuated by the elongated chrome-trimmed radiator grille with expressive horizontal bars. The dazzling Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights prominently takes the credit for the elegant front appearance of the car, further the sober and sophisticated tail lights adds to the car's simply decent appearance. The Volkswagen CC is quite long measuring at 4802 mm while the width is 1855 mm and the overall height of the car stands at 1421 mm. The big 17 inch (comfort) and 18 inch (Sport) wheels of the CC are another major factor thats adds to the overall aesthetics of the car measuring 235/45 R17 and 235/40 R18 respectively.

Interiors:

The car's interior is designed keeping in mind the sporty nature of the car along with the concept of 'comfort' coupe. The centre console of the car is ergonomically designed with a perfectly crafted control system for the driver to enjoy a highly comfortable drive. The features like 12-way electrically adjustable driver's seat and highly responsive leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel gives the interior its sporty touch while the 'Nappa' leather seat upholstery used and the Climatronic air-conditioning system with 2-zone temperature control adds to the comfort part of the car. The car features a high quality sound and multimedia system with 8 speakers and a RCD 510 touch screen 6 CD changer which makes it more delightful to enjoy the interior comfort. However, the backseats do lack in the luxurious space and legroom for the second row passengers.

Safety, braking:>

Volkswagen CC is loaded with all the necessary safety features expected by a buyer. The safety features of the car include ABS (Antilock Braking System), BA (Brake Assist), ECS (Electronic Stability control), wheel locks with extended anti-theft protection, Isofix seat anchor and curtain airbags for front and rear passengers. The car has a braking system consisting of disc brakes on all wheels incorporated with an Adaptive chassis control DCC system.

Verdict:

With a respectable performance, elegant exterior design, comfortable and sporty interior and a wide array of safety features the car proves to be a good choice unless its 'not so spacious' back seats and smallish trunk acts as the deal-breaker.
