Poor Reliability Performance
Emerging from Malaysia's trailblazing car manufacturer Proton, the Proton X70 serves as a strong competitor in the crowded SUV arena, adding to a heritage that kicked off with the legendary Proton Saga. This SUV impresses with its modern design, comprehensive electronic features, strong performance, and cutting-edge technology, effectively meeting all the criteria for what one would consider an ideal SUV, from its features to its interior aesthetics. Although I was initially unenthusiastic about Proton vehicles, the X70 won me over with its array of appealing qualities. Nevertheless, after a three-year stint of ownership, my excitement has waned due to specific concerns. Namely, there's an unsettling cranking noise when the car starts after being idle for a prolonged period, and an audible wind sound permeates the interior, affecting the otherwise enjoyable driving experience. Adding to the disappointment is the lack of solutions from Proton's service center, which has confirmed that similar complaints have been made by other owners. While the SUV excels in many areas, these issues have led to a tempered overall satisfaction level, shifting it from 'excellent' to 'adequate.' This serves as a reminder that while Proton has made significant strides since its early days, there's more work to be done in enhancing the reliability of their products.
