Proton Suprima S

Suprima S has a sporty interior with comfortable seats which have fabric/ leather upholstery to give a premium look. The driver seat is height adjustable for best seating comfort. Paddle shifter and auto cruise are employed in the Premium variant to improve gear shifting at high speeds. Auto climate air conditioner in this vehicle allows ambient temperature inside the cockpit. To entertain the passengers, this hatchback comes with a 7-inch LCD display with DVD player, Bluetooth, iPod, Aux and USX connectivity. 4 or 6 speakers, depending on the variant, are also provided to ensure the best of sound for all the occupants. Coming on to its storage, this car has a capacity of 309 litre which is enough for daily usages.

Proton's signature wing shaped front grille is evident in the Suprima S with Proton insignia placed in the middle of it. This hatchback looks very sharp and aggressive owing to its edgy design. It has elongated dimensions that measure at 4436 mm x 1786 mm x 1524 mm (L x W x H) along with a decent wheelbase of 2650 mm and 155 mm of ground clearance. The Standard and Executive trims employ 16-inch alloy wheels with tires measuring at 205/55 R16 whereas the Premium trim comes with 17-inch alloy wheels and 215/45 R17 sized tires for a balanced drive. The spoiler employed at the rear of this hatchback reduces drag and allows it to be fuel efficient. Some of the features may vary in different trims.

Proton Suprima S is equipped with a Campro 1.6-litre Turbo petrol powerhouse under its bonnet. This engine generates a peak power of 140 PS at 5000 rpm and a peak torque measuring 205 Nm between the range of 2000 to 4000 rpm. Combined with CVT, this powertrain accelerates in just 9.9 seconds from stationary position to the 100 km/hr mark with a top speed of 190 km/hr. Coming on to the mileage, this vehicle can not be said the best in class as it sips 9.1 litre of petrol to cover a distance of 100km on an average.

Suprima S is well equipped with safety features to protect its passengers in an event of collision. The Dual front airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags are employed, along with 5 seat belts for all the occupants. Vehicle immobilizer is given with Suprima S to safeguard it from theft. Vehicle safety features like - Electronic Stability Control, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Anti-Lock Braking System and Traction Control stabilize this vehicle on slippery surfaces and on emergency braking. Parking sensor and reverse camera are also given for safe and convenient parking. This Proton hatchback has ventilated disc brakes at front wheels and solid drum brakes at rear wheels. The McPherson Strut suspension at front and Multi-link with stabilizer bar suspension at rear ensure the best ride even at high speeds.

Verdict

Proton's C-segment Suprima S has exciting looks and aggressive drive quality but the low mileage and a single engine option can turn down some buyers.
