Porsche 911 Turbo Review 2024

Overview:

Porsche is a typically elite brand with the finesse of German engineering in creating a vehicle that an individual desire both visually and technically. With the aim of reflecting the personality that sets standard for sports car, the 911 Turbo was introduced in 1974 and since then it is the benchmark for the other sports car across the globe. With the most powerful expression of agility and performance the latest generation of 911 Turbo is all set to heat up the automobile market of Malaysia in an effective manner. This 2+2 seat sports car shares almost every single bit with the other cars in lineup concerning the mechanical workforce. The engine powering this German beauty is available in 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine that enables the car to churn out 520 HP between 6000 to 6500 rpm along with the peak torque of 660 Nm between 1950 to 5000 rpm. The typical Porsche styling is kept intact with the 911 Turbo, which is unique and holds the aura of a 911 up high and strong. Together with adaptive spoiler at the front, it forms the Porsche Active Aerodynamics System. The LED main headlamps featuring Porsche Dynamic Light System are another example of the high standards the marque set in the design of this car. The interior is focused on just one thing – the driver. The instrumental cluster with high-resolution 4.6-inch color screen provides you with all the information from the on-board computer or audio system. The two-tone leather interior in Black and Garnet Red stand out the model distinctively among the class. Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including navigation module, Burmester high-end surround sound system and Bose system soothe your craving of listening good music while on drives and other informative tasks. Rest, the overall body design of the car is excellently made, maintaining dynamics and rigidity accompanied with safety features like ASR, ABD, Sport Chrono Package, Sport Plus mode and much more.

Mileage and Fuel economy:

The unique capabilities of 911 Turbo lies within the potent engine hidden beneath the hood. The improved performance of the 3.8-litre engine delivers a mileage count of 9.7 litre/100km in combined driving cycle, 13.2 litre/100km in urban cycle and 7.7 litre/100km in extra urban cycle.

Power:

What distinguishes the new 911 Turbo is the absolute desire for performance. With greater engine power, and Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) the 3.8-litre 6 cylinder engine delivers a tremendous power of 520 HP between 6000 to 6500 rpm and peak torque measures 660 Nm between 1950 to 5000 rpm.

Acceleration & Pickup:

The pacing character of Porsche has been kept intact and clocking 100 kmph mark will take a fascinating time span of 3.4 seconds depending on the engine and the top speed measures 318 kmph.

Exterior:

Perfectly sculpted and graciously presented. The exterior design of the car is designed to flaunt an elegant sense of functionality that is resembled in its purely aerodynamic design. Combining form and function in an effective manner, the new Turbo has set new design standards in the league. Whether it is flowing lines or the appropriate proportion, the 911 Turbo reflects the true identity of Porsche in each aspect. The wings are higher than the front lid in comparison to the previous generation model. The nose panel is provided with additional air blades and the Sport design exterior mirrors with V-shaped base. The LED headlamps use little energy while giving the vehicle more memorable look. Henceforth, it is proved that the delicate appearance proves that sportiness is not just a question of power.

Exterior Measurements:

The wings are higher than the front light, height and overhangs are reduced and 100 mm longer wheelbase results in stretched roofline. The overall dimensions of the car measures 4506 mm X 1880 mm X 1296 mm (L X W X H) and the wheelbase measures 2450 mm that results in ample stability at high speeds.

Interior:

An aura of plushness is poured in the interiors of the car. As evident at once from the ascending center console, the typical Porsche fashion is being incorporated to evolve a driver focused cockpit. This is why the distance between the gear selector and steering wheel is extremely short. A classic reference is provided by the five round instruments with the rev counter in the middle. Another feature that distinguish Porsche 911 Turbo is two-tone leather interior combined with the carbon interior trim package. Dashboard, centre console and door panel trim strips in carbon is standard in the model. The high resolution 4.6-inch TFT color screen provides you with a continuous stream of data from the on-board, such as range or average fuel consumption.

Interior Comfort:

Porsche engineers have pushed forward into the extreme comfort range. Sportiness and comfort are combined in the fully electric Sports seats. They offer electric adjustment of seat height, backrest angle, squab angle and depth, fore/aft position, four-way lumbar support and steering column. Even, the seats are provided with heating option via slipstream effect and ventilation. The auto start/stop function provided may remain inactive under particular circumstances (extreme outside temperatures, when the sport button is selected or if battery charge is low). The two-zone air conditioning system is rightly set in close proximity to the driver so that you will be able to concentrate on what's important on the roads.

Interior Measurements:

The practicality front of Porsche is not very impressive and the car offers 145 litres of boot space for holding luggage. This space can be extended to the total volume of 260-litres on backrests folded down.

Engine and Performance:

The car is as usual well balanced like any other 911 and bears a Boxer engine under the hood. The 3.8-litre 6 cylinder engine delivers a tremendous power of 560 HP between 6000 to 6500 rpm and peak torque measures 660 Nm between 1950 to 5000 rpm. It sits in the rear of the car and provides more power than ever before. Power is transmitted to the road by Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) active all-wheel drive. PDK ensures that upshifts take place at higher engine speeds and downshifts happen sooner.

Stereo and Accessories:

Never frivolous, always direct, clever technology and clear operating logic are some of the key competencies of the 911 Turbo interiors. The 7-inch LCD screen is coupled with Porsche Communication System (PCM), audio, navigation. Besides that, the optional Bose Surround Sound System is also available, which comes with 12 high power loudspeakers and a 100 Watt subwoofer the combined effect of which gives an enhanced acoustic experience. Other than these, CDR audio system, sound package plus, digital radio, telephone module and voice control system are provided within the car.

Wheels:

The 20-inch wheels on Porsche 911 Turbo model are forged and designed in a high quality two-tone look to enhance the sporty profile. They are one inch larger than on the previous generation, comprising of tyre size 245/35 R20 at the front and 305/30 R20 at the rear.

Braking and Handling:

Not only acceleration, the 911 Turbo has set a benchmark in effective de-acceleration as well. The red six-piston mono-bloc aluminium fixed brake calipers at the front and four-piston aluminium mono-bloc fixed calipers at the rear are coupled with Anti- Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD), as well as Brake Assist (BA) for effective braking. The deployment of very thin, extremely rigid, sheets of steel results in reduce weight of the vehicle and a sportier handling with improvement in the weight-to-power ratio.

Safety and Security:

An outstanding safety concept: an automatically deploying rollover protection system, full-size airbags for driver and front passenger and the Porsche Side Impact Protection System (POSIP) provide a high level of protection. The airbag technology provides full-size driver and front passenger airbags, which are inflated in two stages depending on the severity and type of accident. In less serious accidents, the airbags are only partially inflated. In addition, Porsche 911 Turbo associates driver assistance systems in the car, including the speed limit indicator, reversing camera, adaptive cruise control and Porsche Active Safe (PAS).
