Kia Seltos Review 2025

Right after the Coronavirus pandemic situation came slightly under control across the world, Kia Malaysia launched the latest version of its B-segment sports utility vehicle (SUV), the all-new Kia Seltos. The car has been quite popular ever since its launch in the market in October 2020 and we will take a look at the important factors that make the Kia Seltos a favorite in the midsize SUV segment.

The new Kia Seltos was made available in two variants: the entry-level Seltos 1.6 EX and the top variant, the 1.6 GT-Line, primarily available with four colour options. Two of these colours: the “Glacier White Pearl” and “Gravity Grey” are available for both the variants while “Intense Red” is exclusive to the EX and the GT-Line exclusively wears a charming “Intelligency Blue”.

After waiting for almost over a year, the Kia Seltos is finally in the Malaysian market. Let us take a look at what makes the car worth its price and hype!

Kia Seltos Interior & Features

On the insides, both the variants feature a pretty organised and luxury cabin layout and get high-quality leather seats as standard. The nice quilted design on the EX is replaced by GT-Line’s red contrast stitching. The special three-level ventilated seat function is exclusive to the GT-line and its front seats.

The cabin and interiors are moderately spacious with a boot space of 433 litres, expandable up to 900 litres with the seats down. Air-conditioning is manually controlled on the EX while the GT-line gets a dual-zone automatic system. The Kia Seltos features an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display system with all the latest technologies like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (with wired USB connection functionalities).

The infotainment system is intelligently placed that gives it a distinct look in the cabin beside the leather-wrapped, multi-function flat-bottomed steering wheel. Features like keyless entry, push-start button, and a superb six-speaker sound system with Sound Mood (six themes and eight-colour LED lighting system) are simply the icing on the cake!

Seltos Exterior

On the outside, the new Seltos is pretty compact and attractive, design-wise. The car has an optimum length of 4315 mm, while being 1,800 mm wide and 1,645 mm tall. The Seltos has a wheelbase of 2,610 mm, and the overall dimensions are very perfectly measured out by Kia to provide the car the perfect outlook on the outside with enough space on the inside.

The Kia Seltos EX also features a stylish set of halogen projector headlights, halogen fog lamps, with the massive Tiger Nose grille with satin silver surrounds being the highlights of the front fascia. The bulb-type tail lights and satin silver tailgate trim add a special charm to the rear side of the vehicle.

The GT Line although comes with full LED headlights and LED DRLs which extends onto the grille, and the visual difference in appearance with the EX is noticeable. The vertical LED fog lamps, chromed grille surrounds with diamond-textured finish are exclusive touches to the top variant that you get. The red body inserts, near the front and sportier rear bumper, chromed tailgate trim, and LED combination taillights surely turn some heads towards the GT line!

Kia Seltos Ride & Handling

The Seltos has 17-inch wheels with 215/60 series tyres that make for quite a stable and grounded drive even at higher speeds. The suspension system is pretty decent and makes for a comfortable journey even on bumpy Malaysian roads, with front MacPherson struts and rear torsion beam. The steering response is pretty sharp and the car has pretty decent cornering stability.

Seltos Engine & Fuel Consumption

Both the variants of the new Kia Seltos is powered by a 1.6-litre Gamma MPI naturally-aspirated multi-point injection engine that produces 121 hp of power and a peak torque of 151 Nm. The Kia Seltos comes with only front-wheel drive options and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The dual overhead camshafts and dual continuously variable valve timing optimises the engine's intake and exhaust strokes for maximum power and efficiency

The car has three drive modes: Normal, Sport, and Eco, as well as three traction control modes, which are: Snow, Mud, and Sand.

Kia Seltos Braking & Safety

About braking, the Seltos comes with ventilated front 16-inch front disc brakes and 14-inch rear disc brakes which give the car pretty decent stopping power, although autonomous emergency braking is missing. Other safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability control, hill start assist, and ISOFIX rear child seat anchors, on both variants.

Seltos Verdict

Overall, the Kia Seltos is a very sustainable and economical package at its price. The car is very well-designed and comes with all the essential and convenient features and functionalities that make it a great package for a family car or a car that can be used for daily commute purposes.
