What features does the BYD Seal get?
The design of BYD Seal is inspired by sea creatures. It has a highly aerodynamic shape. Its dynamic waistline and X-shaped front profile, complemented by a roofline like a coupe, make it stand out among the other electric vehicles. The front fascia boasts a clean look with C-shaped headlamp clusters and a trapezoidal hump. Air passages have been integrated beautifully into the front bumper, accented by daytime running lights in a ripple theme.
From the side, the smooth contours and dynamic waistline enhance its flowing design, while the flush door handles and 19-inch aero alloy wheels add sophistication. A UV-resistant panoramic sunroof and waterdrop-shaped rearview mirrors complete the sophisticated profile. At the rear, a thin light bar and the LED tail lamps create a modern look, with a gloss black diffuser for added flair on the rear bumper.
The cabin of BYD Seal embodies an aerodynamic and sleek design, finished in artificial Thaumus Black leather with striking silver accents. The adjustable, flat-bottomed steering wheel, a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 10.25-inch instrument console enhance the high-tech feel. This system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and rotates for a portrait layout, mated with a 12-speaker audio setup for a concert-like listening experience.
The dashboard flows seamlessly into the center console and it has controls for USB chargers, wireless charging, and dual-zone climate control. It is equipped with many exceptional comfort features. It offers heated and ventilated front seats, ample storage options, and a memory function for the driver's seat. How spacious is it?
The BYD Seal has an airy interior that has benefitted greatly from the lack of a drivetrain hump. This maximizes legroom for all passengers. The Seal has a stylish fastback roof that doesn’t limit headroom for second-row passengers, although for three adults hip and shoulder space may be a bit snug. This clever design choice leads to a cozy environment, making it a great choice for family trips. When it comes to practicality you’ll find the boot to be ideal for family needs. It features a flat floor that is useful for quick tasks like changing a nappy. Another smart addition is the underfloor storage compartment that offers a dedicated space for charging cables. This thoughtful layout enhances the functionality and style of the Seal, making it perfect for everyday use.

BYD Seal Interior & Features
The cabin of the BYD Seal also follows a flowing design theme, with every panel inside the cabin having an aerodynamic appeal. The cabin is finished in a Thaumus Black artificial leather upholstery, which is well-contrasted by the presence of blue highlights and contrast silver accents at places.
The flat-bottomed tilt and telescopic adjustable multi-functional steering wheel, the 10.25-inch full-TFT instrument console and the huge 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system make the cabin of the BYD Seal look very high-tech. Another fascinating quality of the infotainment system is its rotating feature, which allows it to have a portrait-styled layout too. Compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, this infotainment system also supports the 12-speaker audio system of the BYD Seal.
The smooth-flowing contours of the dashboard of the BYD Seal flow down towards the lower center console, which accommodates controls for the dual-zone automatic climate control, USB chargers, and wireless chargers. The cabin of the BYD Seal also comes equipped with ventilated, heated, and electronically adjustable front seats, a center console storage compartment, a memory function for the driver’s seat, LED cabin lights, dynamic ambient lighting, an air purifier, rear AC vents, and rear center armrest.
Seal Exterior
As the name suggests, the design of the BYD Seal is inspired by the sea creature, which makes it a highly aerodynamic design. The X-shaped front profile and the impressive and dynamic waistline with a coupe-like flowing roofline make the BYD Seal one of the best among EVs as far as aerodynamics are concerned.
At the front, the BYD Seal has a clean-looking fascia, with a trapezoidal hump flowing over the centre of the bonnet, while the lower sides have C-shaped headlamp clusters with double U-floating LED headlamps. The corners of the front bumper have hollows for air passages, with their outer corners having ripple-themed daytime running LEDs.
Moving towards the side profile, the BYD Seal further impresses with its dynamic waistline, coupe-like rounded roofline and smooth contours over the front and rear wheel arches, giving the BYD Seal a flowing design. The BYD Seal also comes with 19-inch aero alloy wheels, flush-type door handles, waterdrop-shaped rearview mirrors and UV resistance double glazing panoramic sunroof.
The rear profile of the BYD Seal also looks clean and dynamic, with the sleek-looking combination LED tail lamps having curved outer edges and a thin LED-connected light bar between them running across the width of the boot lid. The rear bumper here comes with a thin gloss black diffuser over its upper part.
BYD Seal Ride & Handling
Both the variants of the BYD Seal come with a suspension combination of a double wishbone setup at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear. However, the Performance variant of the Seal also gets frequency selective damping shock absorbers for an even more comfortable and well-cushioned ride quality. The 19-inch alloy wheels offer good traction and stability, though the steering feels artificial and lacks feedback, especially at higher speeds.
Seal Engine & Fuel Consumption
Both the variants of the BYD Seal are differentiated based on the powertrain offered in them. The lower-spec Premium variant has a rear-mounted single-motor setup, which gives it a rear-wheel drive configuration. This electric motor generates 313 PS of power and 360 Nm of torque. This variant claims 5.9 seconds for the 0-100 kmph sprint.
The Performance variant has a dual motor setup, which gives it an all-wheel drive configuration. While the front motor here produces 218 PS of power and 310 Nm of torque, the rear motor churns out 313 PS of power and 360 Nm of torque. In total, this dual motor setup claims 530 PS of power and 670 Nm of torque. With two motors, this variant claims 3.8 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run.
Both the variants of the BYD Seal have an 82.56kWh blade battery pack, which claims 650 km of range in Premium and 580 km of range in the Performance variant (ranges calculated under the NEDC combined cycle).
BYD Seal Braking & Safety
The extensively long safety equipment list of the BYD Seal comprises eight airbags, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, intelligent power brake system, traction control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, hill hold control and auto hold. The long list of ADAS features includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, Intelligent Cruise Control, Predictive Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limit Information, Intelligent Speed Limit Control, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Front Cross Traffic Brake, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Brake, Blind Spot Detection, Door Open Warning, High Beam Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Head-Up Display and Intelligence Torque Adaption Control.
Seal Verdict
Despite being a product from a relatively new company, the BYD Seal ticks a lot of the right boxes. This new-age electric car has a well-rounded cabin with features and a contemporary design, a long list of safety features, appreciable performance (especially in the higher-spec Performance variant) and a very appealing exterior design.
