KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha’s first electric scooter, the E01 was showcased in Malaysia by the company's official distributor, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM).

    • The e-scooter’s proportions and dimensions are similar to that of the ongoing Yamaha NMax scooter
    • The E01 is powered by an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM), 155cc single-cylinder VVA mill generating a maximum power of 10.8 hp at 5,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 30.2 Nm at 1,950 rpm

    • The powertrain is fed by a 4.9 kWh lithium-ion battery
    • The power is transmitted to the wheels via a CVT gearbox
    • Making the E01 fit for everyday commute are its several practical features like the sizabe 23-litre under-seat storage compartment, maximum travel range of 100 km, a top speed of 105 kmph

    • Also part of the kit e-scooter’s convenience kit is a SIM card enabled LCD instrument panel with navigation and their information displayed, two-channel ABS, smart key system, traction control, reverse gear, LED lighting, and 13-wheels wrapped with 110/70 front & 130/7- rear tyre

    • A smooth ride is ensured by telescopic forks at the front and low-mounted monoshock at the rear
    • The E01 is offered with three ride modes, namely Standard, Eco, and Power, that can be selected via button on the right handlebar pad

    • The e-scooter is charged via a portable 100-240-volt AC charger that is stored under the seat. The best part is the charging unit is removable and can be moved to free up the space for storage
    • Yamaha offers three charging options: conventional charger (100% in 6 hrs), fast charger (80% in 1 hr), and portable charger (100% in 13 hrs)

    Yamaha is yet to reveal its first e-scooter price and availability, however, the E01 is expected to retail for a similar price tag as the ongoing XMax 250.
