Yamaha unveils the Tenere 700 Extreme and Explore editions

KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha’s popular adventure motorcycle, the Tenere 700, gets two new exciting editions in the European market, called the Extreme and Explore. The latest iterations of the bike feature a revised suspension and modified chassis, making them more desirable in the middleweight ADV segment.

The Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition is a more rugged version of the standard T7 and gets a fully adjustable KYB suspension with 20 mm more travel on both ends. The front suspension travel measures 230 mm while the rear one stretches to 220 mm. It also features a new one-piece saddle with an additional padding of 20 mm. The ground clearance and the increased seat height measure 260 mm and 910 mm, respectively.

Adding to the modifications are non-slip titanium footpegs, a high front fender, an aluminium chain guide, and a radiator guard. Providing the rider with all the essential driving-related information is a 5-inch TFT metre panel.

The Yamaha Tenere 700 Explore Edition, on the other hand, is an on-road adventure tourer, which focuses on offering better on-road comfort to the rider. What sets it apart from the standard model is a lowered seat height measuring 860 mm, altered KYB suspension (subtracting 20 mm of travel on both ends), a 50% larger windscreen, pre-installed brackets for side cases, and a quick shifter to make driving a bit easier on the road. 

At the core of both new editions lies the same 689-cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin DOHC engine generating a maximum power of 73.4 PS at 8,750 rpm and a peak torque of 67 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed gearbox.

The Yamaha Tenere 700 Explore Edition price tag reads €11,799 (approximately equal to RM 56,194), while to take home the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition, Europeans need to shell out €11,899 (RM 56,670).
