Yamaha unveiled two hybrid scooters - the Fascino 125 Fi and Ray-ZR 125 Fi
KUALA LUMPUR: During the FZ-X virtual launch event, Yamaha introduced two new scooters in the Indian market - the 2021 Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid and Ray-ZR 125 Fi Hybrid. Both scooters get upgrades in the form of new features, a new hybrid powertrain, and new hues to choose from. Let’s check out their details one by one, starting with the 2021 Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid.
The updated version of the retro-styled Fascino gets an all-LED headlamp and tail lamp as a welcome change along with a fully digital instrument console offering Bluetooth connectivity. The latter provides the riders access to a variety of information, but it is limited to the front disc brake variant only. Also available as an optional feature is the USB charging port.
Included in the Fascino standard kit are a side-stand engine cut-off function, a silent starter, auto stop, and start system, foldable utility hook, and a 21-litre under seat storage. Colour options include Vivid Red, Cyan Blue, Yellow Cocktail, Matt Blue, Metallic Black, Dark Matt Blue, and Suave Copper.
At the core of the 2021 Yamaha Fascino lies a 125-cc hybrid engine which basically works like the ones available in hybrid cars. The setup has a 125-cc air-cooled fuel-injected single-cylinder engine generating maximum power of 8.2 PS at 6500 rpm. It is mated to a Smart Motor Generator that works as a torque assisting motor. As a result, the peak torque is now rated at 10.3 Nm at 5000rpm as against 9.7 Nm at the same revs. Yamaha claims that the upgraded scooter offers 16 percent more mileage.
Moving to the new Ray-ZR 125 Fi Hybrid, this sporty scooter appeals to young riders with its modern styling cues. It also gets new LED lights, a fully digital LCD dashboard with Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, a silent starter, and a generous under-seat storage area. Powering the new Yamaha Ray-ZR is the same hybrid engine available on the new Fascino.
Offered in two variants - Drum and Disc, the scooter is available in a total of five colour options - Metallic Black, Cyan Blue, Dark Matt Blue, Reddish Yellow Cocktail, Matt Red Metallic.
In India, the new Yamaha Fascino price starts at Rs 75 530 (RM 4,224) while the Ray-ZR 125 retails for Rs 73330 (RM 4,101).
