Yamaha TMax 20th Anniversary special edition model unveiled
KUALA LUMPUR: Since its launch in 2001, the Yamaha TMax has been appreciated for its incredible stability, utility, and comfort. Now after two decades of its introduction, Yamaha rolled out a special TMax in the European market, dubbed as the ‘20th Anniversary special edition’ to mark the outstanding achievements of one of its most loved and revered designs around the world. Decked up in unique Tech Graphite colour, the Yamaha TMax 20th Anniversary features a range of exclusive equipment.
As compared to the standard model, the special version stands apart with carbon fiber finishing on the front fender, side panel, and exhaust heat shield. But, the carbon fibre has no traditional woven design with a particular pattern, rather it boasts a digital camo effect, which is exclusive to the special TMax. To further highlight the scooter’s 20th year in production, the Yamaha designing team has given splashes of Yellow colour all around the bodywork.
Design aside, the special TMax also gets a higher level of equipment as compared to the standard model including a lightweight aluminium frame, integrated LED front flasher, heated grips, and heated seats with unique yellow accents. Included in the Yamaha TMax 20th Anniversary specs sheet are an electric screen, monotone TFT instrument panel, motorcycle-type suspension with optimised settings, 15-inch wheels front and rear, and a center stand locking system.
The updated maxi-scooter also has an advanced suite of electronic rider aids comprising a traction control system with D-MODE, cruise control, an anti-lock braking system, and a nifty keyless ignition system.
In terms of oily bits, the Yamaha TMax 20th Anniversary is fitted with a 560 cc, Euro5 DOHC two-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine capable of generating a maximum output of 47 hp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 55.7 Nm at 5,250 rpm. For sending power to the ground, it is mated to an automatic transmission and a belt drive system.
The new Yamaha TMax 20th Anniversary is priced at £14,699 (equals to RM 83,960). It will be available exclusively via an online ordering system on Yamaha Europe’s website that is due to go live on March 31, 2021. Limited to just 560 units, each TMax 20th Anniversary will be equipped with a special numbered badge confirming its exclusive status.
