Yamaha MT-15 gets a colour upgrade for 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: The Yamaha MT-15 is an agile and lightweight motorcycle, ideal for new riders in the world of naked bike riding experiences. It underpins Yamaha’s MT DNA and features an edgy and modern look. For the model year 2024, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has updated the colour palette of the bike to enhance its visual appeal.

The Yamaha MT-15 is now available in a new Midnight Cyan along with the existing Midnight Black hue. The new paint scheme lends the bike a dynamic and vibrant look.

With the colour upgrade, the Yamaha MT-15 also witnessed a hike in pricing. It now retails at RM 12,498 (excluding registration fees and insurance), making it RM 200 dearer than last year’s model. 

In terms of oily bits, the bike remains the same as before. It is powered by a 155-cc, single-cylinder, SOHC, liquid-cooled, VVA engine, which generates a maximum power of 19.3 PS at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.7 Nm at 8,500 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox mated to a slipper and assist clutch and a chain final drive system.

Equipment kit includes - an LED headlight, LED tail light, 17-inch wheels (wrapped with 110/7-0 front and 140/70 rear rubbers), a monochrome LCD instrument panel, a 10.4-litre fuel tank, and an aluminium swingarm. On the suspension front, lies the same upside-down front forks with gold anodised fork legs and rear preload-adjustable mono-shock. The braking duties are handled by a single hydraulic disc on both ends.

On the purchase of the 2024 Yamaha MT-15, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor offers a two-year or 20,000 km manufacturing warranty and a complimentary disc lock worth RM 100.
