Yamaha Malaysia reveal two new models, prices coming out soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha Malaysia recently launched the all-new 2022 T-Max 560 and with it, Hong Leong Yamaha revealed two other models - the 2022 MT-09 and 2022 Tracer 9 GT. While you will get all the information about the new Yamaha T-Max 560 in our launch story, we are here to discuss the MT-09 and Tracer 9 GT whose prices will be revealed in November 2021.

Engine details

The 2022 Yamaha MT-09 and Yamaha Tracer 9 GT are powered by the brand's new Euro 5 compliant Crossplane 3 engine.

In 2022 MT-09, this inline-triple mill has a displacement of 889 cc. The unit pumps out a maximum power of 117.3 hp at 10,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 93 Nm at 7,000 rpm. Compared to the previous generation MT-09, the new model gets a slight power hike. The power is sent to the ground via a six-speed gearbox with an up-and-down quickshifter, assist and slipper clutch.

The 2022 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT, on the other hand, is powered by the same power plant with 7% more torque coming in 1,500 lower power bands. Compared to the ongoing Tracer 9's engine, the new mill weighs 1.7 kg less and comes with a new twin exhaust setup.

• Four ride modes (Mode 1: most aggressive, Mode 2: all-round riding, Mode 3: for soft power delivery, & Mode 4: for wet weather work)
• Cruise control
