Yamaha Malaysia promotes safe riding with 25th Balik Kampung Road Safety Campaign
KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has kicked off the silver jubilee celebration of its annual Balik Kampung Road Safety Campaign in collaboration with the Malaysia Motorcycle Scooter Dealers’ Association (MMSDA).

It began yesterday at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Shah Alam with the opening ceremony officiated by Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Raduan Che Rose, Chairman of UiTM’s Board of Directors.
During the ceremony, the Hong Leong Industries Bhd (“HLI”) Group Managing Director Dato’ Dr Jim Khor Mun Wei mentioned that such a programme plays a crucial role in raising road safety awareness in the country. The key highlights of the Balik Kampung Road Safety Campaign are -
- It is the longest-running annual road safety campaign that operates in conjunction with motorcycle dealers
- The campaign raises awareness of road safety, especially during peak traffic periods like the festive seasons
- It emphasises the importance of proper vehicle maintenance, adhering to speed limits, and safe defensive riding techniques
- The activities under the campaign are safety riding courses, test rides, and free motorcycle inspections
“At HLI, we prioritise product safety as a key focus area in our sustainability pillar. As a subsidiary of HLI, HLYM’s Balik Kampung Road Safety Campaign is core to our social responsibility in advocating and driving awareness of safe riding to our customers. At the same time, as a motorcycle manufacturer, we have a major role to play in promoting safe riding awareness within our communities. We hope that this campaign will inspire like-minded industry players to embark on similar programmes for their customers to enhance road safety awareness overall in the country,” he added.
The campaign will continue till April 19, 2023, at more than 200 Yamaha dealerships and three other renowned local universities.
During the campaign period, over 200 authorised Yamaha Quality Service centres are also offering free motorcycle service to 48 customers every day on a first-come, first-serve basis. Also, the ones who send their motorcycles for this complimentary service can participate in a lucky draw contest and win the Yamaha EZ115.
