Yamaha Malaysia hosts ‘Fiesta Ride Smart, Ride Selamat’ to promote safer motorcycle-riding habits among female riders

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) is committed to enhancing road safety through innovative initiatives and the promotion of responsible driving practices. Recently, the company organized the 'Fiesta Ride Smart, Ride Selamat' event to encourage safer motorcycle-riding habits among female riders, in conjunction with International Women's Day.

The said event was an evolved version of its annual road safety campaign, previously known as the Balik Kampung Road Safety Campaign, which celebrated its 25th silver jubilee last year. It took place in collaboration with the Malaysia Motorcycle Scooter Dealers’ Association, at Stadium Bola Sepak Kuala Lumpur in Cheras.

The program was inaugurated by Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Binti Wan Ismail, the Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak, as well as Datuk Wee Hong, the Chairman of MMSDA, and Professor Dato’ Dr. Jim Khor Mun Wei, the Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Industries Berhad (HLI). It also witnessed the enthusiastic participation of female customers from Yamaha.

Professor Dato' Dr. Jim Khor Mun Wei, Group Managing Director of HLI, emphasized the company's shift towards a lifestyle-centric approach in its road safety campaign, reaffirming its dedication to enhancing road safety awareness. He stated, “As part of the group's sustainability focus areas in social responsibility, we aim to make a significant social impact by implementing initiatives aimed at reducing road accidents, thereby positively impacting the communities and individuals.” 

Key highlights of the Fiesta Ride Smart, Ride Selamat were -

• The event attempted to set a new record for the largest gathering of female riders with Dewi Yamaha Malaysia Club, highlighting support for women in different aspects of life
• It brought together single mothers, representatives from social enterprises, and women entrepreneurs to network, share experiences, and promote empowerment

• The exciting activities held during the event were - the Dewi Smart Ride Challenge, PW 50 Ride, Treasure Hunt, and more, with opportunities to win motorcycles and other prizes
• The riders also participated in an exchange helmet program offered at booths hosted by Aeon Credit Service (M) Berhad and KHI. 
• The complimentary safety jackets sponsored by P&O were provided to the riders

• HLYM also provided complimentary bike inspections for all motorcycle brands to ensure safety before festive travels

Notably, selected Yamaha dealers will offer free bike inspection services from April 1st to April 7th as part of HLYM's ongoing commitment to safety and education.
