Yamaha launches Y15ZR v2 in Malaysia, will be available from mid-April
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2019 Yamaha Y15ZR v2 was finally launched on March 23rd after much speculations and guesswork in the country. The two-wheeler went official during the first round of the 2019 PETRONAS AAM Malaysia Cub Prix Championship in Jasin, Melaka. While no pricing detail is available as of now, Yamaha Malaysia distributor, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has said that it would be declared in the coming month.
The new model comes with hefty features. A major update can be seen on the headlight that gets a new design and is illuminated by LEDs. Thereafter, the information console receives digitalisation, thanks to the LCD display, which replaces the analogue unit. A large front tyre with an overall dimension of 90/80-17 and a wider front fender are also the key highlights of this bike.
The Yamaha Y15ZR v2 receives an increment in the body size. The height and length are increased by 20 mm and 15 mm, respectively. Moreover, the Y15ZR v2 is 2 kg heavier than its predecessor.
The street runner draws the necessary power from a 150 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC engine. The mill churns a maximum power of 15.4 PS at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 13.8 Nm that comes at 7,000 rpm. It also houses a fuel tank with a capacity of 4.2-litre.
The Y15ZR v2 will be available in four color variants, namely Striking Cyan, Storm Blue, Blazing Red, and Dynamic Grey.
As mentioned before, the two-wheeler will be available to buy from mid-April. Furthermore, Yamaha will also give its potential customers an exclusive Yamaha disc brake lock worth RM 100, for free.
