Yamaha Cygnus X125 gets MotoGP treatment
KUALA LUMPUR: It seems to be the season of MotoGP treated two-wheelers. As for quite some time now, both Yamaha and Suzuki are rolling out MotoGP editions of their popular models. Like a few days back, Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 got exotic MotoGP livery. Also, in August 2020, Yamaha introduced the Petronas-liveried edition of its flagship superbike, the YZF-R1. Not to forget the September launched 2021 Yamaha YZF-R3 with two colour schemes, one of which was the MotoGP edition. And now, another Yamaha is joining the MotoGP camp, the Cygnus X125.
It is a sporty scooter that Yamaha offers in the Japanese market and now it gets the factory Monster Energy colours. Yamaha has not played with Cygnus X125 body panels, all you'll find is a gold-coloured reversed-fork logo on the nose, similar to the one found on the YZR-M1 bike. The pillion grab rail is not body-coloured, instead, it is dipped in the deep-blue colour of the racer. Making one aware of its MotoGP edition identity the bike gets a few Monster Energy badges along with factory racing team badges.
Like the standard model, this one too is powered by the same 124cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-valve engine that makes a maximum power of 9.8 PS along with a peak torque of 9.9 Nm. Taking care of the suspension is a telescopic fork and monoshock with disc brakes at both front and rear.
Yamaha Malaysia lineup doesn't include the Cygnus X125, however, we hope to see one of ours getting a similar treatment soon. As this treatment makes the vehicle more visually appealing.
