New Honda PCX, PCX 160, and PCX e: HEV arrives in Japan
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Japan recently pulled covers off three new PCX models, included in the list is PCX, PCX 160, and PCX e:HEV. These 2021 models showcase a completely new bodywork and powerplant features.
Let's now discuss each Honda scooter one-by-one in detail, starting with the 2021 Honda PCX.
The all-new PCX displays the same design theme as seen in the Europe-spec PCX 125. So, major changes are retained to the front, while the rest (side and rear) remains the same as the ongoing model.
It is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder, water-cooled engine with eSP+ technology that ensures enhanced efficiency and performance. It gets disc brakes at both ends and also benefits from Honda Selectable Torque Control/Traction Control. The under-seat storage compartment is expanded by two litres (from 28 to 30 litres). Further part of the revised kit is a new instrument panel and a USB Type C socket.
Coming to the 2021 PCX 160, it is based on the standard PCX model with the two sharing the same specs sheet. However, the difference lies on the engine front, with the later powered by an all-new 156 cc single-cylinder water-cooled 4-stroke powerplant.
Last but not least is the new Honda hybrid scooter, the PCX e: HEV. This one is powered by a 124 cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine that comes with ACG Motor assist and eSP+ that refines the low-end torque in the scooter.
Honda is offering the PCX in five colour tones Matte Cosmo Silver Metallic, Candy Raster Red, Pearl Jasmine White, Matte Dim Grey Metallic, and Poseidon Blak Metallic. The PCX 160 shares the same colour palette except for the silver option. As for the PCX e-HEV model, it is only available in one single paint option, the Pearl Jasmine White with blue highlights.
