New Ducati Monster production begins, will arrive at dealerships by April 2021
KUALA LUMPUR: Production of the new Monster has begun at the Ducati plant and big names of the riding game like Enea Bastianini, Pecco Bagnaia, and Luca Marini were even present as the first model came out of the production line.
Annually, Ducati produces over 350,000 units of the Monster which is then distributed globally. The Monster-family is one of the best and longest-selling models for the brand and the same is expected to follow with all the upcoming releases. Speaking of the new, the latest Monster made its debut at the 2021 Ducati World Premiere and is said to be inspired by the model’s original 1993 philosophy, i.e., a lightweight and essential bike with a frame derived from Superbike and a powerful engine that performs well on the road.
Powering the new Monster is a 937 cc L-twin Testastretta 11 degree mill with desmodromic distribution, making it a fun and sporty vehicle. The said mill makes a maximum power of 111 hp at 9,250 rpm along with a peak torque of 93.16 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This mill guarantees amazing performance and supreme riding pleasure. The power is sent to the wheels via the new gearbox and Ducati Quick Shift Up/Down.
The new Monster weighs less compared to the previous model, all thanks to the dedicated engineers and designers who worked endlessly to achieve the goal. The naked sports bike now benefits from redesigned rims, subframes, swingarm, and above the all-new aluminium frame.
Other outstanding elements of the new Monster design are circular headlight, ‘bison back fuel tank, and very narrow side, 820 mm standard saddle height, clean engine centre-stage and tail.
Coming to the new Monster’s standard electronic equipment kit that helps it to perform better, the bike includes - ABS Cornering, Wheelie Control, Traction Control, Launch Control hydraulic clutch, adjustable levers, clutch pumps, and radial brake.
Helping the new Monster perform better are its three Riding Modes - Touring, Sport, and Urban, that help the rider to mold the bike as per his/her needs and tastes. The Smart Power Modes helps the engine deliver smooth performance.
Further easing the ride is a 4.3-inch colour TFT dashboard and handlebar controls. The former gets racing graphics that includes a large rev counter. The Ducati Multimedia System guarantees connectivity via Bluetooth that connects the rider’s smartphone with the bike. The rider can even charge the smartphone via the USB socket placed under the saddle.
Wait there’s more. Ducati has even introduced a depowered version for A2 license holders, all to encourage young enthusiasts into the thrilling world of motorcycles.
