KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s rapidly growing scooter market has recently welcomed a new player, the MODA Sporter-S. This is a 250cc model from a new Malaysian motorcycle brand called MODA (Mdua Motor Sdn. Bhd.), which is a subsidiary of AFY Mobility Industries.

    MODA Sporter-S price

    The locally made MODA Sporter-S costs RM 17,888 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration). Included in the price is a two-year or 20,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects.

    The Moda scooter is powered by a 244-cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which dishes out 24.8 hp of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 22.5 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine complies with Euro 4 emission standards and promises to offer great performance and mileage.

    The MODA Sporter-S comes loaded with several advanced features, including - 

    • 6.2-inch TFT-LCD display (supports Bluetooth connectivity via the Moda Car Bit ride app)
    • Matrix LED lights
    • Keyless start
    • USB charging port
    • Traction control system
    • Tyre pressure monitoring
    • Backlit handlebar switches
    • Remote-controlled fuel and seat opening
    • 13-litre fuel tank
    • Spacious under-seat compartment, enough to carry two helmets

    MODA Sporter-S suspensions & braking 

    The scooter rides on 15-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels wrapped with 120/70 front tyre and 140-60 rear tyre. Managing the suspension duties are an upside-down fork at the front and adjustable shock absorbers at the rear. As for braking, it comes equipped with dual 260 mm hydraulic discs at the front and a single 240 mm disc at the rear. Taking convenience and safety to the next level is a dual-channel ABS. 

    MODA Sporter-S rivals

    Moda has positioned its first offering in the already crowded segment where it rivals the likes of the Yamaha XMax 250, Honda NSS250, WMoto XDV250 and Modenas Elegan 250 EX

    The launch of the Sporter-S in Malaysia marked the beginning of Moda’s journey with the larger goal of expanding its reach across key markets in the ASEAN region.
