Meet the most advanced adventure-tourer, the 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM has introduced the third-gen 1290 Super Adventure S that it claims to be the most advanced adventure-tourer out there. There are several factors that contribute in making the 1290 Super Adventure S the sportiest motorcycle. For instance, the lengthened swingarm enhances its stability under acceleration and the now overhauled chassis relocates the front half of the KTM V-twin and moves the steering head 15 mm rearward.

A few highlights of the new 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S includes -

• The adventurer-tourer benefits from a new 7-inch TFT-LCD display with smartphone connectivity. Also, the resolution is now better that allows for better display visibility and it is easy to operate too

• A USB charging socket is present inside the a panel atop the storage compartment
• Its 23-litre fuel tank comes with keyless access function
• The two-tier seat is height adjustable (by 20 mm) and also lower to the ground
• The windshield is height adjustable too with 55 mm high to low movement
• It comes fitted with four riding modes - Offroad, Rain, Sport, and Street. Also, present is an optional Rally mode that part of the KTM Rally Pack

• It comes with standard Adaptive Cruise Control system
  The cruise control system is developed in collaboration with Bosch and it uses a radar to automatically adjust separation distance with 5 degrees of separation set by controls on the handlebar
• On the suspension front is present a WP Apex semi-active with enhanced daming

Powering the 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is a 1,301 LC8 V-twin engine that pumps out a maximum power of 160 hp and a peak torque of 138 Nm. The said mill is Euro 5 compliant and comes paired with a six-speed gearbox with Pankl gear mechanism and optional quickshifter.

Need more? Well, for ultra adventurous riders there is the Suspension Pro Package that allows riders to adjust fork and monoshock. Also, it provides automatic preload adjustment and switchable anti-drive. KTM offers a Tech pack as well which is a combination of Suspension and Rally Pack.
