Meet the hand-painted, limited-edition Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special
KUALA LUMPUR: What you see above is the limited edition 2021 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special. The motorcycle was revealed during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally that took place in South Dakota, U.S.
What is so special you ask? Well, if you have noticed this particular Street Glide features a unique metallic deep blue paint, called the Arctic Blast with bright blue strokes over a white base. And mind you, it's not your ordinary paint job but is hand-crafted by Gunslinger Custom, Colorado. They pride themselves as a Tier One Supplier to H-D and supply custom-painted elements to the manufacturer's Custom Vehicle Operations department.
Note only 500 such units will be built, each carrying the edition number on the fuel tank. On close inspection, one can see a blue effect over the white base, not to forget the ghosted hexagon pattern on the fairing.
Harley-Davidson (H-D) Vice President of Styling and Design, Brad Richard on the new limited paint job said, "The Arctic Blast paint is executed in strokes of high-contrast colour intended to communicate the appearance of motion,”
Besides the striking, custom paint job, the limited edition Street Glide Special gets - a 'Batwing fairing', low profile engine guard, saddlebags in matching paint, and Prodigy custom wheels.
What powers the cruiser motorcycle?
The Street Glide Special sources its power from a Milwaukee Eight 114 V-twin mill, displacing 1,868 cc and pumping out a maximum power of 89 hp at 5,020 rpm along with a peak torque of 158 Nm at 3,250 rpm.
Price?
The all-new Arctic Blast Limited Edition Street Glide Special in the U.S retails for $38,899 (approx. RM 164,852). Customers can also opt for a matching top box that costs $1,699 (approx. RM 7,199).
