KTM 390 Adventure spotted testing in complete camouflage

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM may have a huge line up here in Malaysia with bikes from all the segments, including Enduros, Freerides, Tourers and Naked bikes. However, there is still something new that the company is planning to bring.

Though it was never confirmed officially, we have always known that KTM is working on the 390cc version of the bigger Adventure model. The bike has now been spotted testing with a black camouflage covering it all over.

The styling looks slightly similar to the 2017 KTM 390 Duke, though the tank-section cowl is not too protuberant. The fork front suspension has a telescopic unit instead of the upside down as seen in the Duke, also the fork fenders are well covered. The TFT display and other electronics could also be carried from the Duke counterpart. ABS is expected to be offered as standard along with Bluetooth connectivity.

The wheels of the prototype KTM 390 Adventure appear to be  19-inch and 17-inch units at the front and rear respectively, which could be the final order as the bigger Adventure siblings have 21-inch and 18-inch respectively. Moreover, the spoke wheels also mean that this spied model could be close to the final production model.

Having said that, the test model didn't have any crash protection features or an engine bash cover, but we expect them in the production model. It wouldn’t be wrong to expect the 390 Adventure to come in two variants at the time of launch -  a road-biased alloy-wheel version and an off-road version with spoke wheels.

The production-ready version may be revealed at the 2018 Intermot or the EICMA and could have an early 2019 launch in most parts of the world. But the bottom line is, Malaysia could be one of the first countries to get new Adventure.
