Honda Gold Wing now comes with Android Auto connectivity

KUALA LUMPUR: With an intent to enhance the ride experience, Honda has announced the Android Auto integration for the current model Gold Wing series. The customers having Android smartphones will now be able to enjoy application services such as music, phone calls, and messaging uninterruptedly. The process to update software is scheduled for the mid of June 2020 at no additional cost.

In 2017, Honda upgraded the Gold Wing for the US and Canada markets by including Apple CarPlay integration and made it the first and only motorcycle in the world that has this feature. Now with the addition of Android Auto, a wider audience can experience the app’s functionality.

Android Auto is a convenient and safe way to use your phone while driving, comprising a simplified interface, and easy to use voice actions. It is designed with an intent to minimize the rider’s distraction and enhance his focus on the road. Through this, the rider can easily access his favourite music, media, and messaging apps. By using Google Assistant on Android Auto, the rider can stay focussed, connected, and entertained on the go.

In Malaysia, the current Honda Gold Wing model is priced at RM 208,800. It is only available in the DCT-equipped Tour version in Pearl Glare White color. The mechanical set up features a 1,833cc flat-six engine churning out 124.7 PS of power at 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with electric reverse gear gets the power to the ground through a shaft drive. 

The available driving models are - Tour, Sport, Econ, and Rain – with an electronic control unit controlling brake force distribution depending on the selected mode. The other stand-out feature of the Honda flagship touring motorcycle is a Smart Key, which allows for the keyless opening of panniers and trunk. 

Honda says that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration will be coming to more models soon, as it plans to bring more convenience and comfort to customers’ motorcycle lifestyles worldwide.
