Harley-Davidson introduces new Sportster S in the US
KUALA LUMPUR: Seems like Harley-Davidson has entered itself into the next-generation motorcycle arena with the unveiling of the all-new 2021 H-D Sportster S. It is the exact thing we were expecting after the company launched the Pan America 1250.
The 2021 Harley-Davidson Sportster S is based on the Revolution Max 1250 platform and offers a sportier riding experience thanks to the new layout. It is said to cater to a larger and wider customer base, including the H-D purists and new, younger cruiser fans.
What powers the new H-D Sportster S?
Harley-Davidson’s latest offering is powered by a 1,250 cc V-twin liquid-cooled mill that pumps out a maximum power of 121 hp at 7,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 127 Nm at 9,000 rpm. Yes, it is the same unit found in Pan America. In the latter, the engine generates more power (150 hp), however, in the former, we get more torque at lower revs thanks to the DOHC, VVT, and chain-driven valves for every cylinder.
