Ducati launches updated Panigale V4, Monster 821 and Multistrada 1260S in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: At its Premiere held in Kuala Lumpur, Ducati Malaysia launched three new updated products. The Ducati Monster 821, the Ducati Panigale V4 and the Multistrada 1260S.

The Ducati Monster 821 price starts from RM 69,900 for the Ducati Red and RM 70,900 for the Classic Yellow paint schemes. If you look at the Multistrada 1260S, then it is priced at RM 129,900 in Ducati Red and RM 130,900 for the Grey colour schemes. Pricing for the Panigale V4 is RM 129,900 for the base version, while the flagship Panigale V4 S is for RM 169,900. These prices surprisingly are down from last month’s revised list of RM 133,900 and RM 173,900 respectively.

Ducati Monster 821

The 2018 Ducati Monster 821 is the brand’s most recognisable offering in the world. It is a middle weight naked that is claimed to have resurrected the maker’s fortunes in the early 90s. Times have changed, however, the classic silhouette hasn’t been tampered with. There are modern additions in the form of LED headlights with DRLs, LED tail lamps and blinkers. There are three riding modes available and one can access them via the fully configurable TFT coloured screen. Power also comes in three different stages and as required by the rider. The safety aids include discs on both ends, traction control and ABS. From its 800 cc motor, 110 PS of power and 86 Nm of torque are produced. These are transferred to the road via a 6-speed gearbox.

Ducati Multistrada 1260S

Ducati’s adventure-tourer, the Multistrada 1260S has been now updated with a bigger engine as well as more off-road suitable tech. The latter includes Vehicle Hold Control for those slippery as well as tricky mountain starts, Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that has a tight rein over the Cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), rear wheel hop and Ducati Cornering Lights. The design too has been altered a bit but like its predecessor, is instantly recognisable as a Multi.

The engine is a slightly bored out unit. The 1260 cc motor produces 160 PS of power and 130 Nm of torque, aligned to a 6-speed gearbox. Speaking of which, there is the Ducati Quickshifter being offered that makes a mockery of clutchless up as well as downshifts. There is also the Skyhook suspension that will change its characteristics with the dab of a button. Remember this though. If your bike’s battery runs low, then the Skyhook suspension will not work at all.

Ducati Panigale V4

Heard only about Ducati twin-cylinder engines? That is perhaps because the Bologna bike maker has made only these. However, all the years of racing and Ducati have finally got their new four-cylinder engine out. It debuts in the Panigale V4. This motor gets mechanical valve actuation and produces 216 ponies at 13,000 rpm and 120 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. This powertrain is mated to a 6-speed quick shifting transmission.
