Asiabike Jakarta 2025: SEA's premier electric mobility show returns

KUALA LUMPUR:  Last year, Asiabike Jakarta made waves — not just with its sleek rows of e-bikes and cutting-edge battery tech, but with a sense of momentum that felt electric in every sense of the word.

Indonesia, the host nation, is serious about sustainability. With an ambitious target of 12 million two- and three-wheeled EVs on the road by 2035, the country is leaning heavily on green mobility to combat the triple threat of urban congestion, air pollution, and fossil fuel dependence.

Enter Asiabike Jakarta 2025, a collaborative effort between Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, PERIKLINDO (the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association), PT Dyandra Promosindo, and key players from China like the Jiangsu International Trade Promotion Center. Together, they’re bringing back what’s shaping up to be the region’s most focused and energetic EV platform.

Crucially, ABJ 2025 once again co-locates with the PERIKLINDO Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS), further bolstering its credentials as a must-attend industry convergence point for anyone in the e-mobility game.

What's new this year?: Electric three-wheelers get their moment

One of the major highlights of the 2025 edition is the introduction of a dedicated electric three-wheeler (E3W) zone, a timely and strategic move in response to growing demand for compact, urban-ready logistics solutions.

This is no gimmick — China’s Xuzhou region, known for its prowess in E3W innovation, is bringing an entire pavilion dedicated to these workhorses of the new urban economy.

From solar-powered cargo movers to multi-functional people movers and even refrigerated short-range delivery vehicles, the E3W zone promises to be a game-changer for logistics operators, SMEs, and city planners alike.

Jiangsu Jinpeng Group Co. Ltd, one of China’s largest E3W manufacturers, will be making its debut at ABJ 2025. According to Kevin Zhang, Sales Manager, the Southeast Asian market — with its projected 5.1% annual growth over the next decade — represents fertile ground for electric three-wheeler adoption. Indonesia, as the region’s economic linchpin, is high on their radar.

“We’re thrilled to participate in this important event for the green mobility industry and introduce our latest E2Ws, E3Ws, and new energy transportation solutions to buyers from Indonesia and beyond,” he said.

Two-Wheel Titans Return

Of course, the electric two-wheeler (E2W) segment remains the heart of the show. Returning heavyweights like SUNRA, PHYLION, ZHIYANG, and DIMENTRO will be joined by a fleet of newcomers — including tech-centric brands like KEYA ELEC, GTAKE, and Engtian — all vying to make a statement in one of the world’s most promising EV growth regions.

The presence of Jiangsu’s Wuxi region, often referred to as the “hometown of two-wheeled electric vehicles”, underscores China’s central role in shaping the E2W narrative across Southeast Asia. Wuxi alone accounts for a third of China’s domestic EV market, and several of its top-tier manufacturers will be showcasing their newest high-performance e-motorcycles and e-scooters in Jakarta.

According to Stanley Luo, Business Manager at Jiangsu Zhongxing Motorcycle Co. Ltd, ABJ isn’t just a marketing opportunity — it’s a critical listening post for manufacturers.

“The show offers valuable opportunities for us to gather feedback, track market trends, and refine our design and pricing strategies,” Luo shared. “After last year’s successful participation, we’re looking forward to deepening our presence in Southeast Asia.”

Asiabike Jakarta 2025 isn’t just about tech specs and trade deals. It’s also a celebration of cycling as a lifestyle, and that’s where the “Lifestyle Cycling” theme truly shines.
