All-new Ducati Monster launched in Malaysia, price starts at RM 69,900
KUALA LUMPUR: Ducati introduced the all-new Monster globally in December 2020 and now after waiting for nearly 10 months, the flagship middleweight naked sportbike arrives in Malaysia. Different from its predecessor in every sense, the new Ducati Monster gets a new chassis, new engine, new styling, and advanced tech. It is offered at a limited-time launch price of RM 69,900.
Let’s talk about the engine first, it is a new 937-cc, L-twin Testastretta, liquid-cooled unit that churns out a maximum power output of 111 hp at 9,250 rpm and a peak torque of 93 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The new motor gets torque across the rev range, particularly in the medium-low range, which is the commonly used portion of the powerband. It is paired with a new 6-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quick-shifter.
The new Ducati Monster is not only powerful but also lighter and this translates into improved agility and handling. For that, Ducati engineers and designers completely redesigned the bike’s subframe, rims, swingarm, and above all the frame. Along with the chassis, the weight of the engine is also reduced. All these together bring down the dry weight of the Monster to 166 kg i.e. almost 20 kg less than the Monster 821.
In terms of ergonomics, the model gets a seat height of 820 mm as standard along with an optional 775 mm in case of a suspension lowering kit. For better control at low speeds, the steering angle has been increased by 7-degree to 36-degree, also the handlebar is now positioned closer to the rider’s torso for a more upright riding position.
When it comes to electronic equipment, the new Ducati Monster is a true monster. The kit includes -
- 4.3-inch colour TFT dashboard paired with Ducati Multimedia System and Bluetooth
- Three Riding Modes (Sport, Urban, Touring)
- USB socket
- ABS Cornering
- Traction Control and Wheelie Control
- Launch Control
- Hydraulic clutch
- Radial brake and clutch pumps, and adjustable levers
Ducati Malaysia offers the new Monster in three colour choices - Ducati Red and Dark Stealth with black wheels, and Aviator Grey with Red GP wheels. A Monster Plus Package is also available for the ones who want more sportiness, it comes with front fairings and a passenger seat cover.
As per the Head of Ducati Malaysia, Dennis Michael, “Ducati Malaysia has gone great lengths to package the all-new Monster with immense value, making the new bike a pound-for-pound champ in terms of value proposition. Owners will be getting an incredible bang-for-their-buck in terms of owning a machine that’s energized with style, technology, heritage, functionality, and absolute joy.”
Interested folks can now check out the new Ducati Monster in person as it is now available for test rides and sale at all Ducati dealerships nationwide.
