2022 Yamaha MT-10 engine
Powering the 2022 Yamaha MT-10 is the Crossplane 4,998 cc four-cylinder engine that also powers the YZF-R1. The only difference being the steel connecting rods used in YZF-R1 has been substituted with titanium units. The powertrain here delivers a maximum power of 165.5 PS at 11,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 112 Nm at 9,000 rpm.
2022 Yamaha MT-10 ride quality & experience
In addition to the titanium inclusion, Yamaha engineers have also worked on other ride quality enhancing bits like - an increased moment of inertia at the crankshaft to raise mid-range and tweaked EFI to generate more power between 4,000 to 8,000 rpm. The airbag now comes equipped with three intake ducts of different lengths and cross-sections, thus creating a resonance across the intake tract.
Taking care of the rider’s auditory experience, Yamaha has enhanced the bike’s engine noise via an Acoustic Amplifier Grilles. Located on either side of the fuel tank, this new addition delivers induction noise directly to the rider. Complementing this setup is a new exhaust system with titanium downpipes and exhaust that delivers a deep and distinctive sound at low engine speeds.
Not to forget the extended swingarm made from aluminium alloy and its 1,405 mm wheelbase.
2022 Yamaha MT-10 braking & suspension
The braking duties are taken care of by twin 320 mm brake discs with four-piston radial-mount callipers on the front wheel and a single 220 mm disc on the rear wheel. The braking setup comes with a Brembo radial master cylinder at the front that offers improved brake performance.
As for suspension, the MT-10 comes equipped with 43 mm diameter upside-down front forks and a KYB monoshock at the rear, both fully adjustable.
2022 Yamaha MT-10 electronic aids
The updated MT-10 comes with a variable speed limiter that allows the rider to set up an appropriate top speed for the bike. This feature comes in handy on highways or unfamiliar areas and adverse riding conditions as the rider will not exceed the speed limit.
Other inclusions are - an up-and-down quick shifter coupled to assist and slipper clutch equipped six-speed gearbox, ride-by-wire throttle with four power delivery modes. The latter includes the following modes - PWR 1 (for aggressive riding), PWR 2, PWR 3 (both 2 & 3 modes with a smoother throttle response), and PWR 4 (for wet conditions).
Five-level traction control is allowed by a six-axis measurement unit along with slide control and wheelie control. The motorcycle’s electronic setup is tied with Yamaha Ride Control with four modes.
Part of the bike’s e-aids is the new 4.2-inch TFT LCD colour instrument panel sitting in a lightweight aluminium Deltabox frame
