All-new 2022 Honda Vario 160 launched in Indonesia
KUALA LUMPUR: Since its launch in 2006, the Honda Vario has been wooing young riders all around the world. The Japanese automatic scooter is in its seventh generation and recently received a heavy upgrade in the Indonesian market. Honda not only elevated the styling of the scooter but also provided it with significant mechanical upgrades.

In Indonesia, Honda offers the new Vario 160 in two variants - CBS and dual-channel ABS, priced at Rp 25,800,000 (RM 7,503), and Rp 28,500,000 (RM 8,288), respectively.Talking about the design first, the new Honda Vario 160 now looks more edgy and smart as compared to all the previous iterations. It sports an all-new LED headlight on the front paired with new LED DRLs which are stretched to the top of the front apron. Defined and aggressive lines on the body make the Honda scooter more striking.
On the mechanical part, Honda equipped the updated Vario with a new engine. That’s a 160-cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit producing a maximum power output of 15.3 PS at 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 13.8 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The new mill is more powerful than the earlier unit generating 13.1 PS and 13.4 Nm. The new output levels of the Honda Vario exactly match with the nearest rival Yamaha Aerox 155.
Honda also upgraded the underpinnings of the scooter with new flatter tyres. The front and rear tyre now measure 100/80-14 and 120/70-14, respectively. The outgoing model had 90/80-14 and 100/80-14 units.
With chunkier tyres, the new Honda Vario offers a better contact patch and improved cornering confidence.
The braking system of the scooter is also improved now with a disc brake on the rear instead of the drum unit.
