Adventure-ready Yamaha Tenere 700 now in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Previewed in September last year, the new Yamaha Tenere 700 has now made its way to the local showrooms. The new Yamaha machine is locally assembled in Malaysia and carries a price tag of RM 69,988 (excluding road tax, insurance and registration).

The key highlights of the Yamaha Tenere 700 are as follows -

• The new Yamaha dual-purpose bike is powered by a 689-cc Crossplane 2 liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine tuned to deliver a maximum power of 72.4 hp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 68 Nm at 6,500 rpm 
• Sending power to the wheels is a six-speed gearbox mated to a chain final drive system

• The narrow fuel tank of the Tenere 700 is measured at 16 litres, providing a cruising range of up to 350 km
• The bike is built on a double-cradle tubular steel frame with a seat height of 880 mm and ground clearance of 240 mm
• Making the Yamaha Tenere 700 off-road ready is the race-bred front suspension, equipped with flex-resistant 43 mm tubes and 210 mm of front wheel movement 

• The rear suspension duties are taken care of by a 200 mm travel adjustable monoshock
• The braking setup includes a 282 mm hydraulic dual disc at the front and a 245 mm hydraulic single disc at the rear. It is complemented by a switchable ABS functionality that assists riders to adapt to various terrains with ease

• The bike also features a powerful and iconic 4-LED headlight, LED tail light, 21-inch front wheel shod with 90/90 rubber, and an 18-inch rear wheel wrapped with 150/70 tyre
• It also comes kitted with a 5-inch TFT-coloured instrument console featuring two distinct screen modes: Street and Explorer. In the Street mode, it showcases two analogue dials for RPM and speed, while the Explorer mode highlights the tachometer at the centre

• Also, part of the kit are LED signal lights and a USB charging port
