2024 SYM Husky 150: First impression

Mforce Bike Holdings Sdn. Bhd. has brought out a cool new scooter in Malaysia, under its SYM brand. Dubbed the Husky 150, the new SYM scooter is creating quite a buzz among motorcycle enthusiasts and riders looking for a versatile and stylish ride.

Here’s our first impression of this exciting new addition to the Malaysian scooter market.

Design 

The first thing that catches our eyeballs is the sleek and modern design of the SYM Husky 150. It features a sporty stance with sharp lines and attractive colour options, including Ebony Black, Pure White, Matte Green, and Wolf Gray. 

The front end is kitted with a bright and stylish headlamp adding a touch of sophistication while improving visibility on the road. It comes mated to a stylish windshield that improves the scooter's design, visibility, and aerodynamics. The rear aesthetics are elevated by the presence of a beautifully designed hammer-shaped LED tail light. Other notable highlights include 13-inch wheels shod with on/off-road dual-purpose tyres, a hazard light, and an emergency stop signal.

Comfort and convenience 

The Husky stands out for its comfort-focused design. The ergonomic riding position coupled with an extended foot space ensures a relaxed and fatigue-free experience, especially on long journeys. Additionally, the scooter offers 22-litre storage space under the seat, perfect for carrying essential items during daily commutes.

Engine 

At the core of the SYM Husky 150 lies a 150-cc single-cylinder 4-stroke 4-valve liquid-cooled engine that kicks out a maximum power of 14.4 hp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.5 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a CVT gearbox and belt final drive. The scooter boasts a 15-litre fuel tank, minimising the need for frequent visits to the gas station.

Features 

Instrument cluster: To communicate the necessary information to the rider, the scooter comes equipped with a 5-inch TFT-LCD screen with an auto-dimming feature for visibility in all lighting situations

Traction control system: It comes equipped with a traction control system for improved stability and control on various road surfaces

Keyless system: For hassle-free ignition, the scooter comes equipped with a convenient keyless system 

Side stand safety switch: It features a side stand safety switch to ensure the stand is securely retracted before riding

Front storage pocket: A front storage pocket is provided for safely storing smartphones and other gadgets during rides

USB port charger: The scooter also features an integrated USB port charger, offering convenient charging of electronic devices on the go

Suspension and braking

The suspension system of the scooter is also top-notch, featuring telescopic front forks that excel in shock absorption, thus enhancing handling and stability. Additionally, the rear end is equipped with a preload-adjustable monoshock, ensuring improved manoeuvrability, stability, and a comfortable ride. 

Taking care of braking responsibilities are 260 mm disc brakes at the front and 223 mm at the rear, both complemented by a standard two-channel ABS for added safety and control.

Price

The price of the 2024 SYM Husky 150 in Malaysia varies depending on the chosen colour scheme. The Ebony Black and Pure White options are priced at RM 9,998, whereas the special editions, Matte Green and Wolf Gray, are priced at RM 10,298. The mentioned prices do not include road tax, insurance, and registration fees. 

Additionally, the scooter comes with a two-year or 20,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects for added peace of mind.
