KUALA LUMPUR: The Chinese motorcycle brand CFMoto has caused a stir in Malaysia’s two-wheeler market by launching its first grand tourer, the 1250TR-G. The new CFMoto bike carries an affordable price tag of RM 88,888 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration). Powering the 2024 CFMoto 1250TR-G is a 1,279-cc V-Twin engine that kicks out a maximum power of 140 hp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 120 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed transmission mated to a slipper clutch and up-and-down quick shifts.
The bike has an electronic throttle with three riding modes viz. Sport, Comfort, and Rain, catering to different situations and road conditions. It also features an advanced sound system configuration that adds excitement to the ride. Among the other key advanced features are a tyre pressure monitoring system and an electrically adjustable windscreen.
As for the suspension, the new CFMoto 1250TR-G is loaded with Marzocchi shock absorbers with adjustable settings. The braking duties are handled by a 320 mm dual-disc setup at the front and a 270mm single disc at the rear. These are complemented by Brembo-branded callipers and a dual-channel anti-lock braking system.
According to CFMoto, the 1250TR-G is suitable for both personal use and government enforcement agencies, such as the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), the Road Transport Department (JPJ), and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).
The automaker has test-ridden the motorcycle with a total distance of 50,000 km. These include endurance, cornering, and long-distance travel tests, ensuring the excellent performance of the model. However, if necessary, the brand’s R&D team in China is ready to make any necessary improvements in systems or motorcycle components to meet the needs of Malaysian riders.
