2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 launching soon in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) recently previewed the all-new 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 at its GEN BLU Carnival held at Stadium Likas, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The automaker has also started accepting bookings for this locally-assembled adventure bike with deliveries slated to commence by the end of the year.

The 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 is priced at RM 69,988 (excluding registration fees and insurance coverage) in Malaysia.

Powering the Tenere 700 is a 689-cc Crossplane 2 liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which cranks out a maximum power of 72.4 hp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 68 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The power is transmitted to the ground through a six-speed gearbox and chain final drive system. The 16-litre fuel tank of the bike provides a cruising range of up to 350 km.

The Yamaha Tenere 700 comes kitted with a five-inch TFT-coloured instrument cluster with two different screen modes - Street and Explorer. The former displays two analog dials for rev count and velocity while the latter brings the tachometer to the centre stage. Also part of the kit are LED signal lights and a USB charging socket.

Another remarkable feature of the upcoming Yamaha adventure bike is switchable ABS functionality which offers versatility on the road and beyond by allowing riders to adapt to various terrains with ease. 

The bike features a double-cradle tubular steel frame with a seat height measuring 880 mm. It runs on a 21-inch front wheel wrapped with 90/90 rubber and an 18-inch rear wheel mated to a 150/70 tyre. 

Handling the suspension duties are upside-down front forks with 210 mm of travel and an adjustable rear mono-shock with 200 mm of travel. The braking system comprises a 282 mm hydraulic dual disc brake at the front and a 245 mm hydraulic single disc at the rear.
