2022 Yamaha Tricity 125 & Tricity 155: A new scooter with amazing features for Europe

Yamaha Europe has blessed two of its markets - Austria and Switzerland with two new three-wheelers - the Tricity 125 and Tricity 155. Both the models are heavily updated for the 2022 model year, as they receive a new engine, suspension, chassis, and electronics. If noticed closely, one can also see the revised styling that sure looks modern and as per the liking of the urban youth.

Let us now discuss the new Yamaha three-wheeler in detail -

Engine

The Yamaha Tricity 125 is powered by the company’s popular 125 cc unit blessed with Blue Core engine efficiency design. This single-cylinder unit is fed by EFI and pumps out a maximum power output of 9 hp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 11.7 Nm at 7,500 rpm. Not to forget, the engine features a start-stop function (thanks to the starter generator) and runs efficiently with variable valve actuation (VVA) tech.

As for the Tricity 155, the 125 cc engine here becomes 155 cc drive thanks to a larger bore (58 mm) with stroke of 58.7 mm. The unit here generates 11.1 hp and 14.5 Nm of torque.

Chassis

Quite a few changes are seen here, like

• Both the scooters benefit from a new steel frame that is quite evident from the extended wheelbase (+60mm). It is specifically designed by the company to be more rigid.
• Revised LWM knuckle steering system to adapt the new geometry

• New rear wheel suspension
• New dampers with more spring travel
• Higher spring rates
• Made more damping than before (comes in handy on bad roads)
• Integral brake on Tricity 125 and ABS on Tricity 155

New electronics

Yamaha has added its three wheels with a new LCD cockpit that offers seamless connectivity and clearly displays all necessary information to the rider. The setup comes with smartphone connectivity, and the rider can even read messages on the cockpit display.

The Yamaha app acts as a social media hub for all Tricity riders where they can interact and share their journeys.

Another addition to the Tricity family is the new keyless go system.

• Increased foot space
• LED headlights with a wider beam light
• Plenty of storage space underneath the seat & front compartment
• Parking brake (Tricity 155)
• Charging socket (Tricity 155)

Availability

The new Tricity will go on sale starting Q3 2022. While the Tricity 125 will be offered in France, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland, the Tricity 155 is limited to Austria and Italy.

Price

Yamaha is yet to announce the 2022 Tricity 125 and Tricity 155 prices.
