2022 Yamaha MT-15 arrives in a new colour & design, price upgraded

KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha’s affordable performance-oriented naked roadster, the MT-15, has received an update for 2022 in Malaysia. The latest version features a new colour and design, although no changes have been made on the technical front. 

The 2022 Yamaha MT-15 comes in three colour options - Icon Blue, Midnight Black, and Cyan Storm. The latter is the new colour that replaces the older Power Grey. It features the matching coloured wheels, offering the bike a whole new look for this year. The carry-over Icon Blue, on the other hand, also gets updated graphics.

Other than the colour update, the bike continues to feature a compact mass-forward body design and twined eye position lights giving it a ready-to-attack look. Featuring a delta box chassis and an aluminium swingarm, it looks stunning with a side-mounted air intake and a sleek tail end with an LED tail light. 

Just like its elder cousins, the MT-15 also offers you an upright riding position for a fun and comfortable ride. Its 155 mm ground clearance and 1335 mm wheelbase make it easy to ride through heavy city traffic.

As mentioned earlier, the bike is powered by the same engine setup, i.e. 155-cc liquid-cooled single-pot SOHC, VVA unit, which dishes out a maximum power output of 19.3 PS at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.7 Nm at 8,500 rpm. The power is sent to the ground via a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch that helps in reducing the weight of the clutch pull-in and enables smooth, low-stress downshifts. 

On the suspension front also lies the same upside-down front forks with gold anodised fork legs and rear preload-adjustable mono-shock. The braking system is managed by a single hydraulic disc on the front as well as the rear wheel.

2022 Yamaha MT-15 price

As for 2022, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor slightly increased the price for this smallest ‘Monster of Torque’. The new MT-15 retails for RM 12,298, i.e., almost RM 310 pricer than the predecessor.
