2021 Kymco RKS 150 revealed at the Beijing Motor Show
KUALA LUMPUR: The Taiwan bike maker Kymco is known worldwide for its mid-capacity maxi-scooters. In the local market, it introduced three new models last year in November viz. F9, KRV, and DT X360. And now joining its growing fleet of scooters is the all-new RKS 150, which recently made its global debut at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show.
Largely inspired by the brand’s S350, the RKS 150 boasts some unique cosmetic touches that differentiate it from other models in the lineup. The front fascia does carry similarities and mirrors the dimensions of the S350, everything beyond that has a sleeker and sharper appearance that adds to its aggressive styling.
Decked up in dual-tone paintwork with minimal graphics, the RKS 150 key highlights include a dual-LED headlamp with integrated DRLs, a tall windshield, a stubby upswept exhaust, a premium dual-tone seat, and designer 13-inch wheels. Added to the list of tech goodies are a fully digital LCD instrument panel, a USB charging port, and keyless ignition.
Kymco's new scooter gets its energy from a sophisticated Euro-5 compliant 149-cc fuel-injected liquid-cooled single-popper engine. It generates a maximum power output of 15 PS at 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.2 Nm at 6500 rpm. Performance-wise, the scooter can hit the 100 kmph mark in 4.2 seconds and can attain a top speed of 120 kmph. This is at par with other models in the segment.
Coming to the hardware setup, the suspension gets telescopic forks on the front and dual shock absorbers at the back. The braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes on both the front and rear axles alongside Bosch dual-channel anti-lock braking system for better handling.
Kymco has plans to sell the RKS 150 in different markets, including Europe, America, Asia, Central, and South America, where it will stand toe to toe against the likes of the Yamaha NMax and Honda PCX. About the RKS 150 price, no information is available at the moment.
