2021 Honda CBR600RR now available in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: After making its global debut in August 2020, Honda’s all-new super sportbike, the CBR600RR, has just landed on the Malaysian shores. The new version carries a number of upgrades over the previous model and offers its riders the experience of driving a base production race model in their everyday lives.
Exclusively available in a Grand Prix Red colour scheme, the new CBR600RR received most of its design DNA from the Fireblade models. One of the significant mods is the front fairing where the sports bike features a set of winglets, which are never seen on any production-spec middleweight bike. Upfront, the Dual LED headlights give it an aggressive impression while at the rear, the compact exhaust amplifies its aerodynamic design. Inside the cockpit is a full-colour TFT-LCD cluster showcasing all the necessary information to the rider.
On the mechanical front, the CBR600RR is equipped with the same 599-cc, liquid-cooled inline-four engine kicking out a maximum output of 121 PS at 14,000 rpm and a peak torque of 64 Nm at 11,500 rpm. The mill is mated to a six-speed gearbox fitted with assist and slipper clutch and quickshifter.
The 2021 Honda CBR600RR suspension setup uses 41 mm fully adjustable upside-down Showa suspension at the front and Showa Pro-Link unit at the back. Braking duties are taken care of by 4 piston callipers, 310 mm front double disc brakes, and single-piston calliper 220 mm single disc brakes at the rear. Also available is a 2-ch ABS.
Other notable features of the new CBR600RR are:
- Emergency Stop Signal system for sudden braking response
- Honda Electronic Steering Damper
- Six-axis inertial measurement unit for the bike’s angle position detection and to drive the Honda Selectable Torque Control and Engine Control Unit
- Three riding modes as standard – Fast, Fun, and Comfort. Riders can also create their own two riding modes as per their character by adjusting power (5 levels), wheelie control (3 levels + off), HSTC (9 levels + off), and engine brake (3 levels).
Lastly, the Honda CBR600RR price in Malaysia, this super sport production race model is priced at RM 98,888 (without road tax, insurance, and registration).
